Sonic Adventure 2: Battle City Escape Speedrun Guide

Finally, I've started my journey of creating a full Hero Story tutorial for Sonic Adventure 2, it's going to take a long time but I hope it helps people learn a bit about the speedrun and maybe get them interested!

Hyped for this series! Are you going to do other categories? Its a hefty one, but do you plan on doing a 180 emblems tutorial? That's my favorite category.

I'm at the moment not going to do other categories at the moment since this video alone took me weeks to make but if I see enough people want more I'll try to extend the series for all stories! As for 180, I want to say I'll never make one just because of the time commitment but the fact that it's my favorite category makes me want to eventually create one. If I did, it would be nothing like the style that this video has and would assume you have a basic knowledge on speedrunning SA2 to shorten the video length as much as possible.

Nice explanation, Traitor :) As I expected you've made a perfect job! It would be nice if you could add the link for speed values and position on the ramp for the CE skip especially when we can download debug mode to see our speed values Thank you for your fantastic tutorial! Even if I'm most likely not gonna speedrun the game, I'm 100% planning to learn all the speed characters stuff, because i found it very fun and it's not THAT hard as it seems! ;)

Having a lot of problems trying to troubleshoot my City skip. Im perserving all of the speed up to the point where i cross the speed pads before the ramp, and im preserving the spindash through them as well. But when i try to jump after i let go of the spin dash i just jump normally, but with all the speed. I dont initiate the "cool trick animation" and im hitting the skybox and falling down. Am i just pressing A too late on the ramp? Or holding the spindash too long after the speed pads before ramp?

If you're getting a normal jump instead of the trick animation it means you did not unroll before jumping (Either because you pressed it too early from unpausing, the unroll not registering, or just hitting jump first) If this is a consistent issue for you then I would suggest letting go of the spindash earlier since you're likely too far onto the ramp to comfortably get all the inputs in time (which is understandable, it's really fast). this is a dumb question but how do you always get the "awesome" jumps off the ramps? it seems like I randomly get awesomes and cools even though I'm doing pretty much the same thing each time.

Hold a diagonal angle on the analog stick when on the ramp before you jump and you should get it (so up left if you're coming from the right and up right if you're coming from the left) and you should be able to get awesome everytime!

Having a bit of trouble with this one. Losing all my speed when I unpause on the ramp. Not sure if it's my placement or something to do with the rhythm of the inputs. Any help would be appreciated!

Are you talking about CE skip? If so then if you feel you are losing your speed it's most likely you either not holding B through the speedpads or unrolling too early so you still hit the speedpads and lose speed that way. Hope that helps!
