People say that the final wish is crap, but in a way, it's really clever. At the beginning of the story, that was Sonic's first wish for Shahra. Also, Shahra was overcome by the loss of her "lover", and her betrayal of Sonic, it's natural that she'll be overwhelmed with regret and sorrow. Stories are not meant to be taken at face value for 100% of the time.

The ending isn't cheesy IMO. If some people would actually look more at the reason why Sonic wishes for handkerchiefs then you'd realise it isn't cheesy. Shahra just lost somebody she deeply cared for, heck even once loved and to see her previous love having to go back to being trapped in the lamp for eternity breaks her heart. So Sonic decides to help her grieve over her loss by wishing for handkerchiefs to let her sadness out which is very touching.

Djinn Theory time (If you don't know Genie = Djinn): In the Alladin story one thing the Djinn's can't do is revive the dead (aparently they don't sell Phoenix Downs in the Djinn dimension) but Erazor did just that, so the game's wrong? Suprisingly no, you see, whether Sega did this on purpose or not, the Arabian Nights were wrecked before Sonic wished it back to the way it was, so the rules that prevented Erazor from doing it were innefictive (and if you think about it, Erazor destroying the parts of the tales that speak of his limitations is a smart move, i mean, why let things that limit you stay, right?) so yeah, the order of the variables totally changes the results. But this is just speculation.

The Arabian Nights Stories were still inside of Erazor, since they weren’t in the actual book none of the rules that govern Djinn wishes were in the book(besides the 3 wishes rule) so sonic could wish for whatever he wanted, the wish rules were fully restored once Sonic wished for the Stories to be released back into the book

DX:Dark_Xialong Shara also gathered the rings with him, technically speaking but I'm pretty sure Erazor Djinn just needed a sacrifice, a complete life because how would anybody know or anything know that Sonic gathered the rings or made some kind of bond with him, it's a stupid concept. Seemed to me like Erazor was just announcing he needed to take one of their lives and he took Sonic's because Erazor wanted someone to rule with him and someone he had control over.

it was revealed in one of the cutscenes that Shara could not pick up the rings, and Erazor specifically said the life of the collector of the rings needed to be sacrificed. since Shara didn't collect them, he needed to sacrifice Sonic.
