Sonic Colors Ultimate: 4K/60FPS HDR Playthrough (PC)

This took foreeeeeeeeever to process in 4K but it's finally done! Ok so as far as Ultimate goes... this game must have been incredibly rushed. The graphics do look really nice in 4K and I actually like alot of the lighting changes, homing attack giving a boost gauge increase is sweet, I like customization features in a Sonic game as well. Things start to get out of hands outside of these positives though. On PC there is no deadzone support for controllers, this entire playthrough Sonic would move slightly to the left if I didn't touch anything. Gameplay might be a little worse because of this.. apparently I'm not the only person who have this issue either. I only have a 3 month old XBOX360 controller with very little wore. I been told you can use 3rd party programs like Steam controller configuration but I seriously shouldn't need to do this in the first place..... even first time fangames usually have this. Sound balancing and issues are insane. Mabye the worst I've ever seen in an official release. there are times the wisps sounds just don't function (you know the main point of this game), you'll see this alot throughout the video. I was told if you restart this happens, but I even tried going back to the world select screen and it still occurred sometimes so idk... Also even when that doesn't occur homing attack SFX is super loud, sounds cut off, some sound off like it's in one sound channel or something. Cutscenes can sound insanely quiet compared to the rest of the game. List goes on for audio issues I've had some moments where Sonic would warp into some weird stretched out version or disappear, Wisps doing the same things, particle effects all over the screen. It's wild! lmao The first time playing I was in Sweet Mountain Zone, and my pc crashed (I thought I was having yet another harddrive issue or something LMAO) When I rebooted my game the files were deleted from my pc. It turns out I'm not the only person who had this issue........ that is a pretty severe issue. (only had this happen once though since I started playing) This game desperately needs a day one patch, or I may consider this more broken than 06. Even if most the issues are stability issues and not actual gameplay issues. If this gets at least a sound patch I would consider this a worthwhile upgrade from the original. It is definitely nice having it more accessible. Here's my general thoughts on Sonic Colors as a game. Before I get into this I am NOT writing this to try to convince people to dislike Colors, I can understand why people enjoy Sonic Colors. This is more for a fun story as I hear people ask me about my thoughts on Colors pretty often. This is the thoughts of an adventure era fanboy. :) So when I first played Colors back on the Wii, I thought it was one of the worst Sonic games I have ever played at that point. I was having so much fun with this series I absolutely adored the Adventure games, they were my favorite games of all time. I bought a XBOX 360 just to play 06, I was abit disappointed since it was missing many features but still ended up replaying it like 10 times and had a ton of fun with it in the end. I then picked up Unleashed and had a blast with that as well, story book games I enjoyed the story. Overall I was loving everything about this franchise even if the media outlooks weren't. Sonic Colors is the first game I remember disliking in the franchise. I hated it's story (still do), I didn't mind the gameplay, but I couldn't stand the flow of the levels. Everything was so stop and go, to much 2D and short. I disliked how almost everything required the wisp to get a red ring or to get a high score. Most of the wisps just weren't fun to use. It felt very budget title and was making a joke of the franchise and characters. I also really dislike the ranking system, it feels like the slower you go and do more wisp stuff, the more points you get.... I really like the environments, but you can't interact with them hardly so it just feels kind of lifeless. This whole game felt pretty lifeless to me outside of the music. I saw how much the critiques liked this game and was so shocked. I was really hoping future games wouldn't follow this tone... well you know how that went. I honestly played very little Sonic Colors since then. I started to recently since I know many people enjoy the game and I feel sort of obligated to play it, and it's fun making content people enjoy. So do I still have the same thoughts? in short, for the most part, yes. I will say I got abit better at ignoring the story to enjoy the gameplay (I guess a decade of bad stories will do that to you). I think I actually enjoy this game more the first time playing it when the wisps are still locked, since you don't need to do all the wisps paths. It's to bad you need to use wisps so much to get a good score in this game. I will say the game is really pretty even for today's standards. But yeah overall story is awful, gameplay is alright at times, good graphics, good music. I would rate it a 6/10, which me in my childhood would have rated this like a 2/10 lmao. I fully understand why people like this game. I personally have such a hard time enjoying this game as it feels like what led to the downfall of this franchise. Also sorry if this sounds abit depressing I just really felt like getting this out there. Now that this game is out, can we please get a fully 3d game! Let's go!! I am trying to make myself like this game more, mabye if I play it abit more it will grow on me. who knows. Please don't take this as why you need to dislike the game, if you like it definitely enjoy it! This is just my personal take on Sonic Colors.

@@calistusjay60 Sonic and the Secret rings I really disliked the controls. The story left me being pretty happy with it though. I STILL WISH IT DIDN'T EXIST SO 06 COULD HAVE BEEN FINISHED. lmao but yeah it's really the controls that brought that game down. I would say that secret rings is one of my lower liked sonic games though, I just didn't dislike it though.

@@asuuki2048 Damn it must be really bad to be you, you literally have the worst devices for playing sonic colors... Well, anyways you can see if your iOS device is supported by DolphiniOS, if it isn't supported then you can try jail beeaking, wich will also make your iOS overall better. Just be careful on what jailbreak to do. Yeah getting Dolphin iOS + the sonic colors rom + jailbreaking, then setting up all things to make them work will be very hard to do, you'll have to be sure and careful on what to do, and it will take a lot of time.. but if you manage to do it, you will finally get a better version of Sonic Colors, possibly even running at a higher resolution and framerate than the nintendo switch. I know it's very hard to do all this stuff but it's the best way to get the game, I won't reccomend spending 40$ for a worse and unstable version of the game. unless you like to have fun with glitches like I loved messing up with sonic 06, I definitely don't reccomend you to buy the switch version if you want to play the game seriosuly and experience it at it's best, because with the switch version you'll pay money to play it at it's worst ever.
