When Sega made Frontiers, I knew that made an interesting foundation to build upon to make amazing Sonic games, now the modding community is showing us how they can build on it and make the game even better. This mod looks amazing. I love this fandom, I really do. Sonic has some of the most creative and talented fans ever (every fandom has it’s weirdos too before someone points it out), and THIS stuff is the reason I’m proud to say Sonic has one of the coolest fandoms ever.

Hooooooly hell. I’ve been playing this for the past few hours and my god, it feels like a dream to play. The way the rolling works is so addictive and fun it makes up for the boost being gone entirely. Now I’m not the biggest fan of Frontiers’ combat, but here, having it be sped up makes it like 10 times more fun to play…somehow. It’s kinda like magic idk how you did it. (Plus, knocking back enemies feels a lot more satisfying now.) And the overworld music was such an amazing thing to experience for the first time. I actually didn’t read the whole sheet, so I didn’t know you put in different music but my god it’s so fitting I kinda wish the island themes sounded like this instead. So far, I LOVE what you and your team have done, it’s so damn cool.

Playing it for a bit, it’s definitely worth it. Running and rolling around is super fun, and the dash is a great compromise between Boost and Momentum. I actually the by far the most fun I had was in the 2D sections of Cyberspace, rolling and especially the Drop Dash was amazing there. It’s not 100% great though, the Spin Dash is incredibly underwhelming, it’s always a better idea just to Air Dash or something. The Rail Dash is… Annoying. While it’s a lot stronger than the normal dash and integral to those long stretches of Rail, in the shorter ones littered all over the Starfall Islands, it’s really finicky to get around. Final issue- The jump feels like it’s a bit too low. The doesn’t apply to rail jumping, but it feels like if you try to jump up an incline, you won’t go anywhere- Regardless of how fast you’re going. It works better when jumping out of a roll, but it’s still hard to get around. I miss the lack of tricks too, they’re pretty cool :/

Dude, I love the devs in this community, I think the Sonic team always makes a compelling base but the community always adds that fluid and stylish movement and speed I crave in a 3d platformer, especially from a sonic game.

I see Spark 2 and 3s dash (even possible on rails like in those games), AND better cornering and wall running than release??? I don’t know if the parry has been touched yet, but I feel a good middle ground to the parry system is spark 3’s, where you can hold it, but parrying just before you get hit gives you bonuses. Excellent work

My new favorite Frontiers mod. Momentum-based gameplay works so well with the open world. And I love that there's a Boost-like effect after achieving max speed in the Cyberspace levels. Frankly, I'd love to see future games adopt this. For the grinding, is it possible to implement a crouching mechanic into this game?

I get they wanted to replicate level design for familiarity, but I'm sorry the illusion is ruined when you just copy 4 levels architecure from generations and not change the looks. Seriously sky sanctuary looked ripped wholesale from the 360 version but the saturation is overcooked. I wish they instead use like null space, metropolis, sunset heights, things that look familiar but the more times you walk into cyberspace the more the game reveals it simulated colors. You can't tell me they can't do, it'd be less work at that point for level designers because it's a cause black void, neo hues and cyan floor textures as gridlines

It forces the player to use momentum instead of boosting everywhere and it's supposed to be more situational and supplementary and stuff.
