I think that what happened with Elise was erased from the story. Literally the events were erased at the end of Sonic 06, meaning that Sonic never met Elise, Mephiles, and Silver (until Sonic Rivals). Also Sonic 06 happened when Sonic and Amy were older (since I think this is Classic Sonic and Classic Amy this happened when they were young and the Adventure, Heroes, Rush, etc. Games havent happened yet)

I have four things to say to that theory 1.Sonic never chose Amy over Sally, he never really chose Amy at all 2.How did Sally find her way to SEGA? 3. All mainstream Sonic games past 2001 that have been received as "shitty": Sonic 06, Sonic Boom All mainstream games that weren't received as shitty: Sonic Heroes, Shadow the Hedgehog (though it came close), Sonic Unleashed, Sonic Colours, Sonic Generations, Sonic Lost World 4.
