The ending for Team Dark is so satisfying because we hear Shadow say “Some things never change” in response to Rouge’s comment about Knuckles. That can only mean one thing: That that Shadow IS the real deal and not a clone.

According to Shadow your right, but he could just be an Android that gained Sentience and Sapience, and so Eggman locked him up to avoid most Sci-Fi movies with AI from happening, and then like triple lied to Shadow cuz he got super depressed for some reason and Eggman thought this isn't a good idea "you're totally real Shadow"

I agree with @StormTrooperEX. Also, if you think about it, Shadow originally died in Super Form. Even if it was a sacrifice, he would be pretty hard to kill in that state, and he is "the ultimate life form" and being that Eggman is the son of one of Shadows original creators, and a genius himself, I think he would be able to "rebuild" him. And maybe because he didn't have Black Doom helping him this time he couldn't do it perfectly.

If a "normal" hedgehog didn't splatter all over the Tornado (think of the TV Tropes page "not the fall that kills you"), and Sonic The Werehog has a thick enough skull that he didn't even need the biplane to land on, why shouldn't a genetically engineered "ultimate life form" be able to survive it with little more than a bit of -brain damage- retrograde memory loss? ;^)

ChaosRayZero I can answer your first question! Shadow didn’t make it back to the ARK because he was too exhausted. He used so much of his chaos energy, his limiters even came off by the amount of energy he used at that moment

He’s not an idealistic hero like the members of Team Sonic-who will stick to their ideals even when it’s unrealistic-but he has stronger convictions than Rouge, who borders on neutral at times, and Omega, who basically has no morals at all. Following the events of his own game, Shadow’s motivation is to protect the world so that nobody else will ever have to go through the things that he has, even if it’s at the expense of destroying himself (Sonic Battle). At the same time, he’s not willing to simply submit and let himself be destroyed just because people may fear him (Sonic 06).

The reason why Dr. Eggman put Shadow in the capsule between the events of Sonic Adventure 2 and Sonic Heroes, because he was trying to recover and restore Shadow's lost memories. However Rouge released and woke up Shadow, and his memories were not fully recover and restore yet. This was all Rouge's fault. If she never found Shadow in Dr. Eggman's secret base in the first place, none of this would ever happen.

You know, the first cutscene is like a nod towards the Sonic vs. Gamma fight in Adventure. Hedgehog vs. Robot on the Egg Carrier with the girl/ Amy and Rouge respectively/ intervenes and breaks up the fight.

In my head cannon this, and the future Shadow is a Buggy Android that gained Human Intelligence and the ability to ignore his coding, and has memory issues, and to Avoid the plot of most Sci-Fi movies with Ai gaining Human intelligence, he locked him up, and that's why in Shadow, and Battle he loses his memory again, and why his personality is different to the Shadow in Adventure 2

I see. Looking back on this now about 10 or more years since having played those games, I reason that Eggman found Shadow's dead body somewhere on earth and attempted to bring him back to life, or rebuild him, and in his attempts he also managed to replicate him. The Shadow in this game and following is the rebuilt Shadow but there were some things he wasn't able to recover or heal from, or even retain. But that's just how I look at it. Yours makes sense too.

That makes sense in Heroes (and probably many of the later games), but in Shadow The Hedgehog and Sonic Battle, why would Eggman's "buggy android" _remember Maria?_ Did Eggman duplicate the brain in its entirety, PTSD flashbacks and all? If he did, _why?!_ There's also dialogue during "the last way" (that is, _the canon ending)_ in Shadow The Hedgehog where Eggman admits to sending a robot to rescue Shadow, and tells him that _your player character is indeed the real one._ Sure, Eggman's far from the most trustworthy person in the world, but he doesn't tend to lie unless there's something in it for him. _What would he gain from lying about that?_ (I've seen someone claim that Eggman might've been trying to give his android a confidence boost for that final fight, but _that explanation seems kinda iffy.)_

Rouge, Shadow and Omega compliment each other perfectly. The high class jewel thief/government spy, the quiet and troubled ultimate life form, and the serious and rebellious E-Series robot. You wouldn't think they would come to care about each other, but they do in the course of this one game. What if I told you guys, Team Dark almost didn't exist? They were planning on putting Rouge in with Amy and Cream, leaving Shadow dead, and Omega wasn't even thought of. And... I get it. Amy and Cream were already depicted as female counterparts to Sonic and Tails, why not add in Rouge to complete the set? (Heck, "Team Rose/Team Sonic" is also a dead giveaway). But they did a brilliant move by creating Team Dark.

If Infinite the Jackal travel back in time and kill Shadow the Ultimate Lifeform before the events of Sonic Heroes, none of this would have ever happened. Meaning: Team Dark, Shadow the Hedgehog (video game), Sonic 2006, and more Shadow's actions will never exist at all. Shadow killed the Jackal Squad, and turned Infinite into a monster on purpose. And Infinite wants his family (Jackal Squad) back immediately.

Why can't G.U.N. send soldiers (instead of Rouge the Bat) to find Shadow and E-123 Omega in the first place? It's unfair, and it doesn't make sense. And besides, Rouge the Bat and Sonic never tell anybody anything about Shadow being alive and having amnesia (lost his memory). Why? Because nobody cares.
