IDW Silver is best Silver. Ian Flynn & Evan Stanley took a character from one of the most controversial Sonic games, and made him into an endearing, sincere cinnamon bun of a character. IDW Sonic Team continues to deliver on excellent characterization, so let's talk about one of their greatest successes in Silver The Hedgehog!

Silver is my favorite Sonic character, and the comics have been a blessing. He's introduced in 06 as a serious loner determined to fix the future by any means necessary. But after meeting Sonic and the others, he starts to open up showing how kind and occasionally awkward he can be. This kind of evolution can be seen a bit the Archie Comics as well. Silver can be both wholesome with his friends, and serious when it's time for action. And the best thing IDW did was bring Super Silver back 14 years after his debut! I also loved how in the 2022 annual edition it shows how insecure Silver feels when he doesn't have to save his future. I know he and Blaze are coming back for issue 58, and I am really looking forward to that!

I love Silver in IDW. I've been a huge Sonic fan since 1991, but his recent character attributes and personality have been one of the actual Sonic characters I feel like I can actually relate to.

Mecha Sonic. I love how they captured what (very) little personality he showed in the games, and expanded on it tenfold, in addition to giving him an entirely different side, too, and then those personalities started to clash with each other in the last issue of Scrapnik Island, after Sonic bested him. Way to quite literally revive one of the most, if not THE most obscure Sonic characters!

06 resets in the end so Silver joining officially in the sonic timeline happens in sonic rivals but because that game is a playstation portable exclusive so not many know that he joined the timeline again

Silver was just very unlucky to be introduced in one of the worst games of the Sonic Universe....plus he was a big Meme - Mr. Its no use. But if you look more into him, you can realise very quick that Silver has huge potential and his traits are very likeable. I just hope they finally do something with this potential....his character needs to build up further in the Universe....

If you think this Silver's good -- and he very, very much is -- you should check up on Archie's Silver pre-reboot. He enters as an overly serious individual, and you slowly get to see the layers peel back on him being an adorkable optimist. His battle with Enerjak was some of the most satisfying _stuff_ from Flynn's run. The culmination of his story (and how he was going to deal with Mogul being his mentor) was actually one of my most anticipated story beats in the entire run, second only to however Mecha-Sally was going to be dealt with. Stanley's managed to amplify a lot of what I loved about Flynn's take on the character.

IDW does this with all the characters. It's so good! Other characters I like the improvement of are the Babylon Rogues, Team Chaotix, Metal Sonic, and more.
