Since I discovered your KZbin channel, I've purchased 2 Audio-Technica turnatables, Grado headphones, Edifier speakers, and the SOR1, SOR2, Sonic Mania, and Metal Slug vinyl soundtracks as well as 14 other records. Not sure if I should thank you for exposing me to the wonders of vinyl or curse you for making me broke. Maybe both?

Definitely both ;) I've been broke for years at this point because of these vinyls. I've *almost* learned on cutting back on the albums I don't really have an interest for but it's hard heh For real though that's amazing to hear and I thank you so much for getting a use out of my channel and that I was able to influence your purchases. TheReginaldProgram It all started when I found your SOR2 OST video, I had no idea someone was producing records of video game soundtracks. I started listening to your entire channel while at work everyday, so I finally decided to buy a turntable for my office. Then that lead to getting my wife and daughter into vinyl, so I bought another one for the house. This past weekend I even bought a Sega Genesis and SOR2, it’s been a slow, expensive spiral back into my childhood. At least this time I know not to try to scratch records like a DJ like I did with my first record player back in the 80s.

A soundtrack that hearkens back to the superb Sonic CD soundtrack. Golden! I'm gonna get a copy as soon as Data Discs presses more copies this summer.

Kinda sad they didn't put the the opening theme on this release cause this is the theme I think of the first when I hear Sonic Mania ^^'

I opted to buy the Translucent Blue variant of the Soundtrack. I could go for the Limited Edition option, but I wanted to save money at the time so I chose to go the Mondo store route. Gotta say, I feel pretty good to get the Blue vinyl; it looks fitting enough, and it's easier to see the dust to clear up. Gotta be careful about the color vinyls, because I'm getting one too many blue records. Pretty satisfied with the product, and I hope that standard of quality from Data Discs applied to another record I just bought from a user at Discog.

You’re definitely not the first person to take this stance. It’s a bit disappointing Data Discs decided to do it this way but maybe it could have been a licensing thing, who knows

Only the original songs exclusive to Sonic Mania are on here, no “classic” tracks like Green Hill are present here

this is an official release from sega, right? or is it considered a bootleg? Do you think they will release one with the original tracks? I wanna get it but the remixes of the old tracks are the best part, imo, besides a few tracks here or there.

Yes it’s official, no I don’t think they will release one with the original tracks. I do see the original Sonic trilogy coming to vinyl one day, but when, I don’t know. I recently helped work on a bootleg of Sonic 2 so there’s that, but yeah, as of right now I wouldn’t get your hopes up anytime soon unfortunately

Why the hell didn’t they give us a CD disc instead of this? Besides who the heck uses a vinyl rip [Or whatever the hell its called] anymore? not saying it's shit it's that I'm disappointed we didn't get a CD version, or at least the full album on Itunes.

A vinyl rip just means that I used my turntable to create a digital audio rip of the vinyl. Video game music on vinyl is a hugely popular thing right now, so more often then not most soundtracks as of late have only come out on vinyl

Where do you get information on what vinyls come out or is it a specific company that releases them cause damn I wish I would be more well-informed on what's coming out.

There's a small handful of labels that put records out. Check the sidebar on reddit.com/r/vgmvinyl for a list as well as where to follow them Personally for me, I use Twitter and turn on tweet notifications from all the labels so I never miss any updates and am able to stay on top of my game. I use Twitter, I check the subreddit I linked, and I also am in a group on Discord for vgm vinyls

Picked up Metal Slug. No matter what Data Discs puts out I will 100% get it. I'm actually passing on Art of Fighting since I've never played the games myself, and I heard the soundtrack wasn't anything too special I'm pretty sure I'm passing on it...but maybe down the road I might pick it up?

Aren't SNKs known more for their pixel graphics than their music in general? I can't remember a single tune from any of the SNK games, which is why I have no interest in the Data Discs partnership with that company. I mean, good for them, and good for those who wanted to get the Metal Slug soundtrack, but I don't care for that at all.

@@vgmvinyl No, all editions are Sold Out at Data Discs, and my Mom's been paying Spotify Premium Family since Summer 2018 (Winter in LatAm). And i recently got back in KZbin Premium (With YT Music Premium included)

Haha yeah sorry. I recorded them as FLAC and converted them into MP3 for a while, but after 2017 I started keeping FLAC files for all my rips

Not for Sonic Mania, no. Usually if someone is interested in a vinyl FLAC that I don’t have anymore, I’ll re-rip it on request for a couple bucks via PayPal
