P06 confirms that deep deep deep within Sonic 06 exists a great game. The foundation was there. It could’ve easily been as good as Sonic Adventure 2 probably even better. Obviously the story would need several massive changes but it’s nice to see the original vision finally start to be realized.

⁠@@TimmyTheTinmanNah, keep the humans. They make Sonic’s world feel less alien. Instead, make Elise so that she’s less of a damsel in distress and so that she’s a friend rather than a love interest. Also, change the ending so that Sonic and friends end up back in the present day after Solaris is destroyed, and then end things on a funny note as Eggman is chased off into the distance.

Gaming companies are risk-averse, they don't wanna invest whole budgets into remaking a hated game because it's very unclear wheter it will be a success. That's why you mostly see remakes of popular and acclaimed games. It's sad but atleast now with so many engines/tools available and hobbyist developers out there we could see very faithful improvement remasters for games with a lot of potential.

I'm genuinely glad we won't get an official remake. Because let's be perfectly honest with you: with Sonic Team at the helm, it'd likely be nothing more than "Sonic 06: Fixed Edition." Functionally sound, the finished product it should have been. And that's if they don't pull a Sonic Colors Ultimate and fuck it up in different ways. Sonic P-06 represents the other end of that nuance: the realization of the potential of what Sonic 06 _could have been_ rather than just polishing what actually was. That's not unique to Sega, though they are one of the worst offenders. It just happens that, often times, official in-house remasters and remakes are just products that are still cut down for profit reasons, with most passion snuffed out due to corporate culture. Fan remasters are almost always made with more love and passion as a rule. If you ask me, the best route for making an "official" Sonic 06 remake is for Sega to let Chaos X finish his job, and then pay him to officially release this as "Sonic 06: Definitive Edition."

Alot of smaller details added to this update patch, like collisions and minor visual changes. I like how the characters move their head at certain dialogue now like the volcano in Flame Core. There's an issue with some of the water in this build, I heard it's being worked on. Apparently if you turn off reflections it can be a temporary fix. If curious I posted the entire Patch notes in the "KZbin Uploads" channel of my discord.

ChaosX and the crew have done work working on the game. It looks like they reverted Sonic's wall jumping back to the retail or E3's animation. I personally always liked it. I'm interested to see how they will have End of the World, boss battles, and everything else will like whenever he's done with his break.

Chaos X previous wall jump felt more natural in my opinion. Looking back at the E3 wall jump looks goofy in Comparison. Pretty much the only nitpick I have for this patch.

One of the things I would change about P-06 is removing the romance aspect from Sonic’s story, and have him be like a good friend to Elise, and in the last story, I’d have Elise whisper ‘Chaos Control’ and that brings Sonic back, not the kiss that surprised me

Holy, I wish I had a pc. I sold my Ps3 version not too long ago because of how absolutely frustrating it is. Played through a certain part of Kingdom Valley where you had to light dash. That took me 26 tries, then I played through that mach speed section at the end 15 times and couldnt beat it since Sonic goes in every direction when i try to dodge walls, gets clipped and falls when I'm running on the water itself.
