You can download a pc version of the rom of course. It's a pretty fun racing game, it also needs you to figure out any shortcuts. But yeah it's a pretty good game. To bad people overlook it as the tails doll game.

The controls kinda suck at the start but if you can get a handle of them, you can have a fun time. I love the game and I play it on my Sega Saturn, which I’ve heard people say is the worst version.

This is the type of playthrough I delight sitting and watching in some chilling afternoon. Dude was clearly overcoming tight situations, making mistakes, getting nervous, but still nailing level after level in the end. No shitty robotic skills. A true gaming artwork to show and tell.

I dunno about all this backlash about the game. I don't know how the controls are, but the idea is there and all those models are adorable. The soundtrack is all a bop and there isn't any devastating plotline to the game since it's a racing game, which is perfect for Sonic the speedster himself. Bouncing around all over on foot, taking shortcuts and doing a double jump to reach the tokens. Like, the game is a perfect representation of that high-energy that Sonic lacks nowadays. Maybe he got too old. We're always more fun as kids. I wish I could play this. Edit: Played it and... whoo. Yeah the controls are whack. So you know what I wish? I wish they remade this. Fix the controls and keep everything else, down to the cool vibes. This deserves love.

Traveller's Tales did a great job making an engine for the hardware this game is running on. It's such a shame they wasted it on this poor excuse. Sonic R has a love-it-or-hate-it appeal, don't get me wrong. This game would've been better if they put more effort on the gameplay would've had more content.
