I was absolutely surprised that the PS2 version is decent port while the Original Xbox ended up being poorly optimized compared to the previous versions. Is my brain melting or am I just going batshit crazy.

Actually, the PC port is the worst one. The optimization is even worse and the characters's eye pupils don't move during cutscenes.

Are there any major differences between this version and GameCube? I was just searching for a copy online and the I found the ps2 version for a much cheaper price than GameCube. I heard bad things about heroes and shadow on ps2.

The PS2 version is pretty much identical to the GameCube and Xbox ones, even down to 60 FPS. The only difference is that the PS2 version has dithering due to the lack of colors, which is barely noticeable on a CRT. If anything it's the Windows version that was butchered.

Never was a big fan of this game. It isn't bad, but sometimes the physics made me stopped playing. Especially at places like 24:50 when tails just flies past the vines,even though I try controling him in the right Direction XD
