Super Sonic is basically hard mode for this game. At least when you have no rings, you can access all of the shortcuts you normally can only access when using a special running move.

@@mariobroultimate1808 I think they might be refering to Mag. From my personal experience it's a god awful gear. I couldn't even get a 5th place on Megalo Station with it. The gear's stats are awful, has no type and little to no Gravity Power. Its gear parts don't stack with each other and instead get overwritten. Gear parts let you: - Boost your gear stats (Unfortunately it doesn't help you making a comeback at all.) - Increase Attack Mode time (As fun as it sounds the terrible RNG of item boxes unfortunately makes it near impossible to take full advantage of it so you will never make a proper comeback) - Give you 25 or 23 seconds of infinite Gravity Power (It's the only good thing but unfortunately super expensive to activate, it requires 100 rings and worsens your stats too)

@@dashthehedgehog2612 I disagree. Super Sonic was better in the first game. If you know how the maps work SS can take the lead with the shortcuts. SS in ZG however does have nice stuff like a boost with 180 speed and Magnetic Barrier but that's where the advantage ends. He is only a Power type and even then he needs the boost for it to work and most importantly the game punishes him hard for using the game's basic mechanics. Thanks to that SS really struggles with maps such as Gigan Rocks which really wants you to Gravity Dive.

@@lafbkhope5391 Agree to disagree. Outspeeding Super Sonic in the first game is beyond easy, and you can knock him out the way if need be. You can get far more speed by just putting Cream on the Light Board and boosting a single time. Knowing the routes doesn't mean much when others can take those routes faster than you whilst hogging Rings. In ZG, Super Sonic using up all his Rings in a single Gravity Control isn't a weakness, it's a strength because it means he can take any of the on-foot shortcuts at any time he feels like it and still grab up Rings far more easily than he could before. The Power shortcuts are the fastest because most do not send you on a cinematic detour and skip right to where you wanna go. He only struggles in a few sections (Astral Babylon does not favor him at all) and even then it's not hard to maintain form at all, on top of having the most rapid acceleration in the game-he can hit a wall and jump back to 180 in the same second as well as being entirely unaffected by off-road areas.

@@dashthehedgehog2612 You see, the outspeed thing can be applied to ZG SS too. His boost mode gets outspeeded by Gravity Dive and Attack Mode the other characters have albeit with not a great acceleration. As for the foot shortcuts most of them unfortunately aren't worth it. There are cool ones like the one in Crimson Crater or Nightside Rush but most of the time you are just better off staying in Super Form and keep boosting. SS getting harshly punished for using basic gravity moves is way worse than a 20 rings cost Boost because some stages have it mandatory like Gigan Rocks which absolutely leaves SS in the dust since poor guy consumes rings at a alarming rate and the boost isn't fast enough to catch up too. Corners that require Gravity Control aren't that bad because you can just use the brake button to slow down and make a turn.

The fact they were able to have a flying character that can ride a Hoverboard look so good and compliment the two things is amazing, Super Sonic's X Rank Trick is honestly the best one for me.

He's difficult, but still far more manageable than the first game. He may not be able to grind or fly, but at least he kept the power attribute (in the first game, those were the most broken shortcuts). Happy he got a much needed buff for maintaining Rings with his Ring Magnet as well as being able to increase his Ring Cap. It's too bad the CPU is programmed to cheat in this game...

Very late reply, but I read somewhere (probably GameFAQs and wiki) that because of the Solaria Incident (that is a cannon event in the sonic universe) Shadow and Silver lost the ability to enter Super Hedgehog. Both are still capable of using Chaos Control, but they're unable to go super. Don't know the exact cause, but perhaps since Shadow is bioengineerd, his super form could have some drawbacks, and by overextending their use in the fight, it probably let him unable to access it again. As for Silver, I have no clue, but he was never exposed to the super form before, so maybe he isn't strong enough YET to sustain it for long periods, but I'm not entirely sure.

That's what you'd think at first if you only played Riders, but he's not that nerfed. His biggest advantage compared to Riders is his magnetic shield. And plus when you're on foot, you have access to all special shortcuts, in which you can replenish your rings while gaining on your opponents (and you can choose to revert back to normal Sonic and run whenever you want with the use of gravity powers, so you can take all the special shortcuts you want), well granted this sometimes doesn't necessarily work so well with all the shortcuts, but you get the point I hope.

It’s not unlimited. If he has no rings, he’ll be walking. Not to mention, using gravity will drain his rings VERY quickly. So Super Sonic is basically this game’s hard mode.

I can definitely agree; using any gravity powers will chew up those rings. Because of this, you'll have to deal with crashing into walls since you can't drift. Unlike the first game, he also can't grind rails or fly. He only has Power... and that's provided if you're ready to deal with the atrocious ring depletion. At least in the first game you can safely manage your ring economy by finding the 100 ring box and by boosting seldomly. Super Sonic is a liability in this game.

Are you guys actually overlooking Super Sonic's magnetic shield in this game or somethinh? You have actual proof in this video that you can totally breeze comfortably through some tracks as soon as you enable the magnetic shield. It's kinda too bad that he can't have all the types anymore sure, but it's the change of game system/mechanic that wants this, since you now have to gear change to morph the character's gear into their respective type gear (in the case of Flight gears turning into Hovercrafts and Power gears turning into bikes, Speed types only get their lights glowing), as opposed to having your respective ability (or all of them with Super Sonic) right on the go with the normal board in the first game. However saying you'll have to deal with crashing on the walls in every turn or drift just cause you don't want to deplete your rings count with gravity drift is kinda being insincere if you ask me, since you can simply brake during the turn to avoid eating the wall, and plus if you have the boost on, then you actually won't even lose much speed/momentum if you hit a wall in a diagonal angle, and what little you lose you'll get it back instantly with his level of acceleration.
