they weren't ripping us off I think they did this for nostalgia but when Sega saw that nobody liked this episode they started to get innovated and make new bosses and levels

the zone is like this, you first battle robotnik in his egg-mobile h in the same way as you do in the first sonic the hedgehog game. this means avoid his wrecking ball and use the platforms to defeat him. and then you go into the entrance only to fight another boss battle, all you do is attack robotnik using the walls, he can't use bombs in this battle, so it's a little bit easy, in fact, all he can do is activate the spikes from the center floor. after using the same entrance, (i won't mention it again.) you face robotnik, you have to be careful because you can be squished, you have to stand on a random pillar, and then attack him, you can't do it without this strategy, as he's high enough so that you can't attack him on the floor. soon after that is another boss battle (yes, this a boss mathrathon.) robotnik tries to get away from you in his eggmobile while throwing mini eggmans at you, including blue ones. he'll also ocaisinally throw spike balls at sonic. and then after a brief intro where sonic chases down robotnik in a similiar manner to sonic 2, then after that is the final boss, the death egg robot! can sonic survive this creation? find out! you fight him in a similar way to sonic 2, so just attack his chest, he gets some new attacks here, after a lot of hits, ALARM! ALARM! an alarm sound plays, the mech will also malfunction and surruonded by electricity for a second, it'll randomly leaping across the field, after 6 hits, the mech will shoot it's spikey hand at sonic, you'll have to attack the hand enough times so that when it comes back to the mech, it's mech, after the boss, you'll have to run away from an explosion, then you win, robotnik is defeated and sonic has saved the day!

Nah, Sonic is actually faster then Eggman. Come on people ' if Eggman were to be faster than Sonic, the gap between them would expand rather than shorten on a chase, WHICH IT DID SHORTEN!!! So Sonic is faster. I just don't get why would Sonic let himself suddenly as Eggman just after gaining up on him.

I think it's aesthetically pleasing but the handling of sonic is the absolute drizzling shits. He feels clunky and you struggle to get any natural momentum like you did in the classic 2d games and Mania.

The last boss is strange: it has more attacks than it does in S2, but the robot has to be malfunctioning before they'll work - it's like it gets better and worse at the same time.

+Nexus the Darklord Tails wasn't in the game as the plan was to have Sonic go solo without any friends (I'm looking at Sonic '06 and Sonic Unleashed as examples) and his feud with Eggman being in full-effect like it should've been without any super powered entities being part of Eggman's world domination plans. Even then, Tails did contribute in helping Sonic by creating the rocket that Sonic used to reach the E.G.G. Station Zone in outer space. Tails returned in the second episode, helping Sonic full-time once again.

After seeing this whole walkthrough I may be in the minority but I think they drew inspiration from sonics of old if you look at bosses, zone names, and if you listen carefully you can hear little snippets of previous zone music mixed into this one.

If you're talking about the Death Egg Robot from Sonic 2, then I STRONGLY disagree with you. It was a very tedious fight imo since you can take your time with it along with its easy-to-dodge attacks. Meanwhile, Sonic 4's Death Egg Robot is MUCH more fast paced and can pressure you easily. Trying to no-damage it was simply one of the hardest things in Sonic I have ever done, and I played the entire trilogy before too.

To me it looks like Episode II is gonna show the "origins" of Metal Sonic. In Sonic CD ya kinda figure he's just another robot Eggman made,but I get the impression Sonic 4 Ep. II is gonna show that there's more to it then that. Mabye.

I'm gonna take a wild guess here and say that Episode 1 is more of a re-introduction to the 2d gameplay. There wasnt anything terribly game breaking and the entire game looks like it was just a rehashed version of the genesis games. I'm gonna go even further on that limb and say that episode 2 will likely be radically different in terms of gameplay.

@moustached48 I sadly have to agree with you. You forgot to address the overall-way-too-easy difficulty. (It only seems to get 'hard' when the bad level design throws you into a troublesome spot.) It seems today's generation of games are so apologetic. "Oh, is this too hard? Don't worry, you can whale on the boss while it switches to its 'pitch' mode and easily defeat it before it does anything in that mode. Oh, is that boss gauntlet too much for you? Have tons of rings in-between each fight."

The problem with the Sonic fans is that they don't get the difference between "average" and "bad". Games like Sonic 4 Ep 1, Sonic Lost World, and Knuckles Chaotix is average, (And I even liked 4 Ep 1even though I acknowledged its flaws) and Sonic 06, Sonic Labyrinth, and Boom RoL is bad. (According to how I rate games, 06 isn't even on my "bad" section. It's off by one point out of the 100 scale) But no. Instead, they consider EVERY Sonic game that isn't "legendary" bad and that's sad really.
