Hello Zack, a few tips about the game: The special stages are accessed by getting 50 rings and getting the end of the stage and jumping in the big ring only in act 1 and 2 of levels, there you follow certain paths to get the chaos emerald. They're needed for the best ending of the game, but the re-release lets you retry special stages with tokens so you got a ton of tries. Tails and Knuckles weren't in sonic 1 originally and aren't require for anything, they just let you play the same game but with their different abilities in sonic 1.

It’s nice seeing someone play Sonic for the first time. I loved watching you play Angry Birds when I was younger, as well as PvZ and Minecraft. As many people have told you, the giant rings are Special Stages and you need 50 rings to unlock it. Also, in Anniversary Mode you have coins instead of lives. With coins you can buy stuff in the museum. The games are great. Hope you enjoy playing them.

For the special stage, you have to collect over 50 rings in the main stage and jump through the ring at the end. While in the special stage, if you collect over 40 rings you earn a "continue". This will be signalled by a little sound in the game play. The chaos emeralds are sort of needed to get the best ending

Hey ZackScott you have to collect the Chaos Emeralds in the first two Levels of Sonic The Hedgehog. You need to have 50 coins at end of the first two Levels and jump into the Big Coin to able to go to the bonus Stage to collect them.

Also, Sonic 3 and Knuckles has two story modes, one where you play as sonic or tails and knuckles, which happens after you play as sonic or tails.

If you ever want to do repeat playthroughs, I recommend playing the decomp projects that have had these games ported to pc (and maybe other systems as homebrew) for a while such as Sonic Forever, Sonic CD Restored Mod, Sonic 2 Absolute, and Sonic 3 AIR. As long as you own Origins, you can build them using the assets from those games. Sonic 3 AIR requires a rom from the original S3&K which they have a guide on getting it legally. There are mods for those games as well so check them out for yourself if you want.

Hi ZackScottGames, I really love this video since Sonic The Hedgehog is one of my favourite video games of all time. I got Sonic Origins on my blue Nintendo Switch Lite earlier this year and I love this game. I also play Sonic The Hedgehog on an old SEGA Mega Drive that I and my mum played on in the past. Other Nintendo Switch games I got this year and love playing are Pokémon Legends Arceus, Splatoon 3, Nintendo Switch Sports and the upcoming Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. I love all sorts of video games like Pokémon, Mario, Sonic, Tekken, Splatoon, Super Smash Bros and Wii Sports. This is one awesome video ZackScottGames and keep it up. ❤❤

Zack, the special stage is part of the original. All of it is original. The only new stuff is Tails and Knuckles in all 4, cutscenes, coins, being able to retry a special stage using coins, anniversary mode, and after landing on spikes if you Landon more spikes, you won't die from it.

Fun fact: the original genesis version for this game, sonic couldnt do a stationary spin dash. That wasnt a feature until sonic 2 but later remakes like the anniversary of origins allows you to spin dash

The gems are called Chaos Emeralds. You need all 6 in this game for the good ending, and Tails and Knuckles weren’t in Sonic 1 originally, but they would soon become playable in rereleases such as the mobile ports.
