I'm happy it's enjoyable! The werehog segment is what makes this so much harder in my opinion. I couldn't seem to come up with a way to consistently clip through the door into the first titan room at the end. The hourglass room one is annoying, too, but I feel like maybe a little bit less. I think the door clip is just timing based. I think you just have to shield when Sonic's shoes are like pointing straight up. Or somewhere near that part of the animation. It just happens too fast in my opinion and the window seems very tight. I started to rely more on sound. There's like a loud wind sound effect when you do that XXY (for xbox) combo at the end. I had some success when I would try to shield shortly after I heard the loud wind effect. Thank you!

Very impressive, i say this is extremely close to a TAS run (except going through walls and quicktime events) and what makes it even more astonishing is that this was done on original hardware. The only way i can see you improve your time is by being lucky on quicktime events and clipping through walls at the right spot. Good luck.

Tbh this level of difficulty for final stages need to return. Ik people used to dislike the hell out of this stage but what else do u want it to be? You want it to be like the newer sonic games where the difficulty is non existent? New games so stale, u literally just brainlessly mash buttons 90% of the time. The unleashed stages are actually quite difficult at times because you're moving so darn fast but that's what a sonic game is supposed to be about. Generations is actually worst in that regards since he's noticeably slower despite the better level design.

Yeah, I saw you had done a similar thing there! I think the higher launch pipe skip M speed is easier to perform, but the lower launch is nice since you don't have to worry about getting launched high enough in the first place. Consistency is already enough of an issue for me without having to worry about that lol. I land as close to the wall as possible, hold crouch and hold a down right angle (to make Sonic crawl a little bit and face the right way) Then, I boost (while still holding slide), jump, and hold a down (south) M speed and eventually change the angle. I kinda just got a feel for it after awhile. And yes, I was actually feeling disappointment when I saw my time. My PB prior to this was 2:11 something, so I wanted at least 2:09. Thank you. I feel I might be a bit calmer if I do try this again. Like, I feel like this mental block is lifted or lessened after getting this run. I used to get extremely nervous just getting to the pipe skip checkpoint, but now not as much. The hourglass room is where I would get very nervous after getting more comfortable at pipe skip. My least favorite aspect of running this level are the two werehog clips. I dread those parts the most and I think might be the hardest parts of the level for me. I used to think the ready go glitch was the worst, but I find myself debating between the two. The ready go glitch is draining to me and makes me feel more nervous and of course costs a lot of grind time. But if I didn't have to worry about those clips, I feel it would only be a matter of time before I could get a successful run. But because of the clips I feel more like: will I ever get a successful run? I don't think I fully understand the hourglass room clip though. Sorry for the long text, I think I'm rambling. XD

The countdown can be ignored if you restart during certain in-level cutscenes. I restarted during the cutscene around 0:02. This is the earliest cutscene in the level you can restart from to skip the countdown that I'm aware of. The Eggmanland countdown skip can be done on PS3 and maybe Xbox 360 as well if the game is unpatched. I'm pretty certain I got this trick to work on Xbox 360 unpatched years ago. But I don't have footage of that. And I don't have a 360 available at the moment to test this again. You could also restart during the cutscene at 2:21 or the one at 2:33 to trigger the glitch. There may be more cutscenes that trigger the glitch throughout the level that were skipped in this run. I can't remember.

If I can pull off the whale jump you found, that may make beating my old time easier. I'm not sure how consistent that is, though. I was thinking about trying Cool Edge Act 2 night again. I was messing with the new strat there a couple of months ago.
