Gerald's journal screams Sonic Adventure 3! I love how it seamlessly connects Adventures 1 and 2, since those games by themselves are not that linked together story-wise besides quick remarks of the Emerald Shrine and Tails' victory over Eggman at Station Square.

Poor Gerald all he ever want wanted was to find a cure for Maria illness but black doom double cross him, so that’s why he recorded the message at the end of shadow the hedgehog admitting his mistake making contact with black doom i always thought he might have done the record message before the ark raid

Yeah, considering that Heroes was both released before and canonically happens before Shadow 05. We already have the Sonic Forces parts being with Chaos Island, so they didn't really have to worry about whether or not the levels and games match up. It just feels like a weird choice that'll end up misinforming newcomers about the order of events (In case anyone needs it, it's Sonic Adventure 2 -> Sonic Heroes -> Shadow 05 -> Sonic 06 -> Sonic Forces)

It’d have been cool if the journal had entries on the Heal Pod and Heal Cannon from Shadow the Hedgehog as developments in finding a cure for NIDS (the former is at least illustrated at 13:33), but what we did get (especially with how good Sonic Battle fans have been getting it as of late) is really good. Hope to get my hands on a physical copy of the journal soon, provided that my pre-order from before the physical journal was announced qualified as a Day 1 copy.

13:32 Read the second to last paragraph. This is new information. Apparently, Maria had a little sister that, unfortunately, had most likely succumbed to NIDS because Gerald couldn't finish the cure due to GUN's raid on the ARK.

Quite the opposite, the girl is fine, she shows "no genetic markers linked to [Maria]'s condition." Even though that's good news, he understood the passive-agressiveness of his family asking for Maria to come back. It hurts that they were never fully convinced of sending Maria to ARK; even though at surface level it was a big mistake, it was her pure heart that sent Shadow towards the right path, indirectly saving the world from the Black Arms.

It looks like Endless Possibility continues to be removed from games (they've done this since Smash Wii U, where it was the biggest vocal theme not in the game, and it was not available on Spotify, Apple Music, KZbin Music, or Sonic Frontiers). If this is the original, I'm glad we finally got His World again It also seems that Sega has issues getting Almost Dead. It's also the only vocal track from Shadow that isn't on any of those streaming sites....well, honestly it was my least favorite anyways

I may be wrong but it may be in the Sonic side of this game just not the Shadow. Cause on my Xbox version of generations I have Green Hill Zone with that song almost all the time. I do agree though that it should be on Shadows side of this game cause kingdom valley with that would be an absolute vibe.

​@@mcgaming609 It is on there, but the rights to be used in Generations are already in place. They'd have to do the rights all over again for a new context. A good example is Super Smash Bros. The Small Battlefield update added a new feature to play any song on the Battlefield variants and Final Destination. However, according to Sakurai, he had to revisit all the music rights holders to allow it.

They have the most trouble with You Can Do Anything and Endless Possibility, and there is a lot of legal stuff we don't know. I wouldn't be surprised if getting the rights to Endless Possibility was such a hassle, they decided to never do it again. Too much work for too little payoff, no matter how good the song is

One is Maria's father and one is Eggman's father. Which is which has been left uncertain since names are redacted; one is a scientist and one is an archeologist. I can see Eggman being the archeologist's son rather than the scientist's. He admired his grandfather too much.
