Good video. You did a great job of covering this machine. There is A LOT under the hood of this box and it can get pretty confusing but I bet this video will serve as a reference for a lot of people for a long time.

Best tutorial I found so far on the Liven Bass & Beats! Given the complexity of the device you make it very accessible to understand the major functionalities, well done! Actually I pretty much like that it is a complex device, I especially love how they included those overlays so you're able to dive quite deep into sound synthesis. I think it is a nice thing to see novel approaches regarding workflow and so; afterall, if every manufacturer copies the same workflow every other machine has, there will be no innovation. Even if it means that we have to get used to that new workflow. Maybe it's not yet the perfect workflow (don't know whether they'll provide firmware updates with workflow improvements). Anyways, I can imagine, once the muscle memory kicks in, it is quite easy and fast to operate, since there are not many sub menus etc. I'm a bit worried about the 3.5 mm audio jack since they often have a malfunction sooner or later. And I'd love if there was microtiming for each step, which would dramatically increase the musical possibilities... Anyways, thanks a lot for sharing!

I was checking a couple of videos about this drum machine, but you are totally the one who showed exactly what I wanted to see (and bonus points for your kit choice and the BPM heheh) Thanks a lot mate this will totally be the next thing I will buy for my setup. I rarely buy Drum machines anymore (the last one I got was an Electribe 2 sampler in 2015 or something) but I was totally hooked by it at first sight. Design wise it looks weird but intuitive at the same time (and the case looks slick af) It looks like it is everything I need as a drum machine (finally someone using the DnB/Jungle breakbeat kits) with a sick Bass synth engine as a super sweet bonus. (all for like half the price of a Electribe 2) +1 Sub ! Keep up the good work !

When Sonicware first released the Liven Warps and the XFM, I instantly fell in love with those grooveboxes. This one? Not so much. I feel Sonicware tried to cram too much into the one box and, as a result, we ended up with a drum machine that lacks capability and a wavetable synth that lacks intuitive usability. I wish they'd dropped the "beats" and combined two wavetable engines and a much more rewarding ui in the box instead.
@BlezzBeats2 жыл бұрын
Yeah I have to agree its a little overcomplicated. The ELZ-1 had the perfect streamlined flow, best ux design so far i think but then it also has less bells and whistles, just quick and nice synth sound design. Looking forward to trying the SmplTrek

Sup Blezz, 2 questions, how is the speaker and do you think the same speaker will be on the Smpltrek?
@BendApparatus2 жыл бұрын
The speaker on all these devices is loud, clear but with little bottom end. You're not going to rock the party with it but it doesn't distort easily.

For me, tactile sensation is very important when working with devices. Tell me please what are the buttons of this groovebox, are they springs or clicks? How do you rate this groovebox in general? Thank you👈👍
@BlezzBeats2 жыл бұрын
Such a good point I can't believe I missed covering that. The buttons have a somewhat mushy feel with a veeery subtle "plastic scratch" feeling, they press down about 3 mm. Not sure what to compare them to, cheaper versions of Octatrack mk1? And the rubber buttons feel like they look. Pretty alright but not extremely satisfying, 6/10 😁

You are definitely right in it doesn't work like any instrument that I've used before.Just about everytime I try to change patterns nothing happens and I'm stuck on a pattern that can only be cleared by doing a system reset. The manual is of little help. Its the only manual I can recall that does not explain the control panel functions in the beginning. This may be because the b&b is two separate machines in one body with shared controls that seem to function to different button combinations .Anyway I give up ,was going to send it back but as I have pay for shipping it might not be worth it. This is is my first and probably my last crowd funding campaign.

Hello! Great video! But I must ask: are you joking around when you pronounce the word "knob" like it is written instead of the real pronounciation "nobb" and the word "while" like "schhwile" instead of the pronounciation "wail"? He-he just asking. Very good video!

Blezz if I offered to buy you one synth a year of your choice, for the rest of your life, but at the cost of you having to give up the use of chairs, forks (other cutlery allowed) and pens (pencils allowed), would you accept? Please think about this carefully as you can't rush into such things.
@BlezzBeats Жыл бұрын
Lool, chairs and forks I can live without, but I’d never give up my sharpies for a synth. Not even kidding, I take notes obsessively and fiddle with them all the time.
@duketranslucent3rd Жыл бұрын
@@BlezzBeats This is reasonable. Pens are IMPORTANT, like family, carrots and Latvia. But are you sure you couldn't cope with pencils, or even carving your notes into the paper (or perhaps a stone tablet) or even using a paintbrush? Spraycan?
