I have a very strong hunch that Percy Bysshe Shelley`s “Ozymandias” had its inspiration/roots in this seminal sonnet, despite Shelly wrote it within 15 minutes, but John Keats winning the contest. By the way this sonnet is prescribed for my English Masters and it brought me here. Lucid and elegant explanation Sir.

Sonnet 64 scrutinizes idea of losing his loved one to time , views time as age agent of death . Shakespeare reference to outworn buried age demonstrates idea of his loved one being consumed or worn but by time and age .
