Had the pleasure of meeting Sonny Bono in Fresno back in the eariy 1990's. He was running for congress and stopped by at the TV station for a publc affairs show. A great gentleman. He shared with me his days working for Phil Spector...his early days with Cher. A day I'll never forget.

I remember sitting in the living room with my family watching their variety show as a young impressionable girl. I always thought she was so Beautiful with her gorgeous long jet black locs. They always ended the show with... "I've Got You Babe." I don't know what I miss most. Sitting in the living room with my family or The Sonny and Cher Variety Show. I guess I'd have to say, I really miss them both. Thank you for sharing! 💖

I greatly enjoyed the music of Sonny & Cher from Day One. But it wasn't until their variety show that I began to suspect the breadth of Cher's talent. And back in '65 I never _dreamed_ that she would have such staying power! An amazing and beautiful woman.
@that70sgirl903 жыл бұрын
@@michaeltuz608 I got the privilege and the honor to seeing her in concert in 2019. At 72 years old she still sounded and looked amazing. What a phenomenal show! I would most definitely go to see her again. She honored Sonny at the concert. They put up a big black and white photo of Sonny. Cher was dressed in 60's attire. She had her hair just like she did in the clip fron the Ed Sullivan Show. They sang "I Got You Babe." It was sp perfectly done. I got so emotional, thinking back to the days when I was sitting in my living room watching the Sonny & Cher variety show. At that moment I had an even deeper respect for her. If you ever get the opportunity to see her... GO!! It was money well spent! Thank you for sharing! 💖

Great video, except a little post production and uploading a 720p version would be an improvement. Cher looked and sounded terrific. They gave the Ray Bloch Orchestra a nice rest by singing to recorded instrumental tracks. Was this show recorded in or broadcast live from California?
@MostlyBrenda3 жыл бұрын
Yes, broadcast live from Television City in LA. They were converting the New York theater to color in Sept-Oct 1965. ESS did 6 shows from LA.
@shave-a-thon34153 жыл бұрын
@@MostlyBrenda Thanks for the information. I can only imagine the immense size and cost of of those color TV cameras that were brought in back then. I wonder what the size of the audience was there in comparison to the theater in NYC.
@MostlyBrenda3 жыл бұрын
@@shave-a-thon3415 Not sure. Wiki lists ESS theater as capacity of 457. Seems low, but maybe it was changed when refurbished for Letterman? The four Television City studios were only 300 capacity. Later they added some larger ones. I think the stage is bigger in New York.
