One of the greatest Passer-Receiver tandems in the history of the game. And to think they accomplished all that in the so-called "Dead Ball" era, when the defenses were not held in check by all the pass-friendly rules of today's NFL. Thanks for putting this clip together!

At 1:12 my uncle Ray Schoenke 62, this time RG, is blocking against the Eagles on frozen Franklin Field on Univ of Penn campus. I was 9 yrs old and watching on TV in Atlanta. A wonderful, innocent era with Sonny, Charley, and Larry Brown. Though I still follow the game, I don’t care much for the Commodores but I’ll always love the Redskins.

This video hits home! My two favorite quarterbacks all time are Fran Tarkenton and Sonny Jurgensen. They never won championships, but man were they fun to watch!! I caught the tail end of Jurgy's career in the early 70's. As he was nearing the end, Coach Allen favored the 'slightly' younger Billy Kilmer (both classic swashbucklers!). When asked repeatedly about his hardy gut, he always said 'I don't throw with my stomach'. I love that guy! Charlie Taylor is one of the most underrated WR ever, albeit in the Hall of Fame!

i'll never forgive allen for what he did to the redskins, especially sonny, keeping him isolated during the superbowl. who knows, we may have won that had he been able to coach kilmer.

That last spiral in slow motion was perfection. Maybe the most descriptive image of Jergansen I've seen. One of the few videos captured of absolute perfection. That don't throw like that anymore. But then again, they didn't throw like that before.

Watching this, I found a big happy smile on my face. If only they had been able to alternate Sonny-to-Charley clips with clips of Sam Huff crunching some QB or RB. Only Doug William's Super Bowl Second Quarter can make me smile this much. And no matter what their website says, the commanders have never won a Super Bowl.

That's what I was thinking. That "everyone else looks slow" effect. He was either getting farther down the field than everyone else or zipping past the guys who were in his vicinity and basically trying to tackle the spot he had just been in. Incredible athlete.

Firstly, Jurgenson was frightening. Whether, it be "son" or "sen". Or if, it should be spelt with a "u", "o", or have a strike-through and dots above it, He was '70s bad, with a all-electric deuce plus a quarter, sunroof, white walls, spokes, television antennas, satellite-phone, 8 track quadraphonics, and a Diamond, Fancy, and Sheba Baby; riding in back. And, that piping makes it mo' better. And, not especially tall nor stocky; he could place that "pill" with precision, landing a strike among the breadbasket of his receiver a full five-yards beyond their goal-line from behind his opponent's one. Top-notch. It does not require any performance enhancing compounds. Before, one might be among the best, at anything. He was undeniably one of the greatest of all-time; on a very "level playing". That is a very powerful and accurate arm. And, it is a rare gifting and amazingly honed talent. Memories of sportsmen's periodicals; seen during the 70's and on; Mostly, who were collections of monochrome still photography, priceless statistics, and names long-forgotten. Like, one of the greatest natural OGs, who played for the Rams of LA. And, who was a phenomenal technician. Like, that Hall of Famer, who is called the greatest blindside (strong) OT. Who was named Eldridge. And, who was extremely competitive during the years of human steers, on steroids. At, a natural weight of around one hundred and twenty kilos and heights, between seventy-three and five inches, they were remarkable natural athletes. Who transformed the sport and league; by promoting sports participation, which best fit a person's natural physical giftings. And, that did not require the use of performance-enhancing substances nor rapid weight gain and loss. Who be deleterious for anyone's health. Especially when, it is a large percentage of one current mass. Some of the most rewarding sports, financially and otherwise, be not televised, widely or at all. One might have been the OL coach. Who rebuilt the flagging Cowboys lead Jerry Jones, a former OG. When, the relocated from Irving, possibly near the University of Dallas. That stadium who had that fabulous ring of stars. And, he assembled and built a fine, and highly competitive wall, with athletes older than thirty-three. Some of whom were at most fifteen pounds shy of three bills, as we said during the '80. One of whom had been a highly-competitive OT at WV and a C/F for the Mavericks, with that jerk, classically-trained Dierk. Another who was a G/T for the Commodores, before '90. That is the value of staying natural and physically active. Those old written records might give one a strong-pause. If, he collected enough across college and professional programs, across sports, in this country alone. One might see reruns where he does not expect. Memories truly be not fully-erasable; they might be somewhat "confabulatory". That simply means skewed some by forgetfulness or the injection of misleading information. Who seem plausible. As in, those famous iron-clad, water-tight, and damning eye witness testimonies. However, Darryl Mann, a DT, was the very first Black athlete permitted as a teammate on Washington Redskins squad. That be during the early-80s. When, Joe Theisman's lag was shattered, during a prime-time sack. And, much respect due that mighty-giant for his years of sport's commentary free of those so well detected color-coded subtilties. Graciousness, character, and leadership be contagious. Whether, one is truly sincere or not. When, he speaks publically. His very respectful and polite on-aire sentiments openned doors of opportunity. Albeit, every profession who glitters sho' ain't gold. That complete-barrment of non-Europeans was a demand set-forth by the teams owner. Who they are called now: Senators, General, Presidents, or the likes be unknown. Someone might have suggested once again the Redskins. Since, history be forgotten by a majority of the untaught younger generation. Like, it was suggested that the extension of a local interstate spur be called the MLK Expressway, during '11 - 15. A petition raised a significant and sufficient number of signatures. Its construction displaced a large portion of this municipality's Afro-American community, during the '80s. At least, those who owned homes along that corridor. When, the city enacted the power of imminent domain. And, she offered compensation for homes at pennies on the dollar. So, she might construct a thoroughfare. Who stopped about three-miles shy of the other connector. Who crosses the river, at the primary bridge, entering the neighboring state. But, that was the boundary of a historical and now, primarily European community. Well, that be the nature of passing time and lost; yet, recoverable memories. And, Mr. Mann was presented publically as a college graduate, successful athlete, and a functional illiterate. Whether, that be true or not is completely-unknown. That might have simply secured the contract for him. It was said that everyone had completed his academic work for him, over the years. All that was required of him was an reliable athletic performance. Which is a horrible deal. If, it ever be offered. One should never, never, never, ever accept that fishhook, "You sit back, take it easy, we will do the work. This is all that is needed from you. We shall make you a star." One must be more multifaceted that the most Prudent of Hope Diamonds. Moments among that North Dallas home always encounters an gentleman. Who states "We need someone with a strongback and a weak-mind. Do you want a job.". Which is highly-dangerous non-stop tandem. He was offered available personal services during a brief unplanned undergraduate sabbatical and also while working on a second post-baccalaureate. He always has said, "Boy, you will not work!" That be why more time be spent where some appreciate this type of insanity. It be some enriching. It seems highly-rational that if one has more than one tool in his chest. He might make use of one and the other, as needed. However, he apparently does not reason that way. Certainly, a full-equipped '24 T-100 would be acceptable. If, only a '77 F-50 were needed. Somethings be absolutely indelible. Other memories fade. For, it seems that this (Sunday) should more probably be the actual MLK holiday, 01/15/24, than Monday. In short, it appears before these eyes that some of those per-80s Redskins are Afro-American, Black, Coloured, or etc. That is a genuine and absolute impossibility. Unlike, seeing Hasting's Big Tuna drive a Chevy Venture, Warner Bros. Edition, with Bugs sporting a carrot, along Park Boulevard, during '03 or so. Television makes folk seem larger than life and invincible. Truth be told, anyone might topple. Size, ability, number; it does not much matter; on any given Sunday.
