Every time I see him live it's even more amazing. Raging gain but every note clear as a bell. You can hear some of it here, but you really need to be in the room to appreciate how amazing he is.

What he does with his right hand - holding the E against the pickup while mute-picking it with his thumb pick, all while working the slide with his left hand AND fretting the strings with his remaining fingers BEHIND the slide... well, it gives new meaning to the term ‘multi-tasking’. It’s awe-inspiring.

Keep at it, I found it took a year of focusing on Sonny's simplest stuff, it's a high risk style at anytime, but now I had subtle hints of it into all of my tunes and arrangements, these techniques are good and fun tools to have.

You can even find Sonny playing with a full orchestra on KZbin, Mozart and another composer I think. Its not perfect, has some minor mistakes, but its a brave thing to try..
