Wasn't familiar with BFs work before this band. Am a huge fan of Dream Theater when Portnoy was aboard. Huge fan of Petrucci as well but Bumblefoot is absolutely the perfect guy for Sons of Apollo. The whole band actually is the perfect mix of talent. Love these guys. Would rather go see SOA these days than DT... and in fact I did 🤘🏼🍻

@@dirkbag22 I wrote and asked him if he listened to Michael Romeo, because he's the only other guitarist I can compare Bumblefoot to, in terms of technique, imagination and genius. He said Yes, he knew him since adolescence, lives near him, calls him a good friend, and admires his skill immensely!

its because late 90's dream theater grew on us so liking their vibes we love this as derek also has amazing keyboard skills , just like some liquid tension too , he also knows to do slow parts with soul \m/ should call them Liquid Tension v2.0 haha

To be fair Jordan Rudess is a great keyboard player (probably my favorite). But being honest, yes Mike Mangini is great, but there is no other drummer in this world like Portnoy

​@@warwikdallasyeah, their last couple of albums have been kinda same-y and formulaic. Be interesting to hear the new album with Portnoy back in the fold. SOA more diverse and interesting mostly because of Bumblefoot, he's an incredible guitar player, leaves JP in the dust IMO. All players outstanding, but I think Jeff Scott Soto is the weak link though. Sherinian also my favourite DT keys player - the extended demos version of Falling Into Infinity with him on it is my favourite DT album. Seeing DT again in London in October, looking forward to it, would've liked to have heard the new album beforehand, but looks like it won't be released by then unfortunately.
