Should you buy Sons of The Forest?
The original Forest is one of my favourite survival games of all time and a big reason for that is because there's an effectual and meaningful plot line to commit to with multiple endings.
This reason alone isn’t enough for a survival game to be considered one of the greats but giving me an end goal with alluring and highly disturbing environmental lore, concealed within a huge island should be a standard inclusion in survival games.
Endnight Games went above and beyond when it comes The Forest’s world building and the narrative and they've done the same again wtih Sons of The Forest. The question is, what new gameplay elements and mechanics have they added to the highly anticipated sequel, Sons of The Forest.

In one of the underground bunkers, where a ladder through a steel trap door opening takes you down to it, there is a room off to the right: with a 3-d printer and another room with a bed for saving/sleeping. The issue I had that really upset me was in the first room where that 3-d printer was there was also a coffee table and a chess board with chess pieces as if two people were once playing a game there. The problem is the chessboard orientation was wrong. The Black Square of the chess board always goes in the bottom left corner of the chess board. So whether you are playing the white pieces side or the black pieces side the black square of the board itself always goes in the bottom left corner, This wasn't the case here! They had the chess pieces set up incorrectly on a wrongfully oriented board. As a serious chess player and chess enthusiast, this was almost the game-breaker for me!

Best review. I played the day this game was released but it felt incomplete, do you know it they have since updated it to make it better as I returned it.

Really good video! :D I myself have been enjoying sons of the forest! my only complaints besides the crashing and stuttering I've experienced is I feel the caves aren't as fun to explore, like you said they dont connect and its just point A to B. The map itself also feels super empty, going map marker to map marker with nothing in between makes the game feel empty almost.

Loved the first one and didn't even know they were making another. After about 10 hours I'd say it's worth the time and scratch.

As the "foundation" of a early access is good. But as a survival game...since there is no need to worry about food water rest cause there is food and water EVERYWHERE and you can die from starvation. So many why's to many to list. Why is the reloading loot respawn in the game? Why not make a natural respawn or make it so I dont need to loot modern items. Why do you have to lock items in caves for story? Put the items in the open world as well but just make it harder to obtain. Why is the firearms and melee actions feel clunky? Why are the firearm attachments in the worst spot possible? Laundry list of issues but as said its a good foundation for a EA game and if they follow through it will be a great game.

I already played this game for longer than the first but the sequel has only a tiny fraction of craftable things to do. I only played it for long cause making ziplines connect points of interests has been my childhood dream. The building mechanics are very trash for trying to make a base though

The whole thing felt super lazy, especially the story. The combat is janky (at best). There's no depth in the survival. Running across the whole map takes forever and is super tedious and the whole world feels empty and boring.

@@Michael-ej8tf They pushed the release date of the game back two times and then released it half finished for $30. "It's in early access" is just cope for a money hungry development team. I don't doubt that they'll patch it into a playable state, but for now I stand by my original comment
