Nice, but I think you missed out the most valuable use case imo.. You can "record notes" while the sequence is playing back. Super useful for drums. For example: You can also play the tape and sequence simultanously, then slowly build up your drum pattern.

True! I should have included that…

I’ve thought about wanting to use pattern this way but it seems to not enter notes in right on the beat for some reason. We need you (Thomas) to make a video demonstrating it 😅

Yeah the quantization is a bit rough due to the low resolution…@@Khordmaster

Thanks for another great tutorial. I’d steered clear of using the pattern sequencer as I got used to using the endless sequencer, which I love, but now I’ll be using the pattern sequencer as well. I just wish TE would give us the ability to save sequences so we can recall them later. Anyway thanks again 👍

Thanks for this. A few sequencer questions for you… Is there a way to lift a sequence recorded on tape back into the original sequencer that made it so it can be edited? I like to start with a basic drum sequence and then create variations (I.e. patterns) that can be arranged within a song, but I often come up with the variations as the song develops and after I’ve moved on to other sequences. Also, can multiple sequences be saved somewhere and then loaded into the sequencer after other projects have been worked on? Thanks again!

thanks for the tutorial. can you change velocity per step after entering notes/steps?
@prestonnunez7 Жыл бұрын
With the OP-1 Field specifically you can enter notes with velocity, if you have velocity enabled in settings. When you punch in a note it has the velocity attached, you can’t change it at that point. You can just delete that specific note and reenter it though. You can delete by using the shift+blue encoder or I believe you can also navigate to the step and press the same note that’s recorded and it will erase just that same note (helpful if you have multiple notes on a step and don’t want to delete them all)

This thing needs a real sequencer for this price, at least 4 bars. I like this device but man that price is steep. I hope teenage engineering up date this with a sequencer soon.

Are there any competitors who have a very small transportable synth without the teenage engineering price tag?
@SONWU Жыл бұрын
Sadly, the options are limited. Especially with cheap prices. For me, a used OP-Z would be the best, but there alternatives like WOOVEBOX and M8 Tracker.

The Sonicware SmplTrek is a sampling based system, but it’s replaced my OP-1 for the most part. My Woovebox arrives in the next few days 😊
@prestonnunez7 Жыл бұрын
Definitely check out the OP-Z! I also recommend the M8 tracker. The op-z doesn’t work with audio, it works with midi sequencing so it’s a bit more versatile if you want to edit your existing work or work on things later on the computer, etc. I found that because you can extend the op-z’s track pattern length to 8 or 16 bars(can’t remember the max) and you can live record without quantization it’s pretty cool to try to use it like a faux OP-1 since each track can kinda become a live loop. Which is how I use the OP-1 mostly anyway. You miss out on some of the more advanced features like easy resampling and audio overdub, but you gain the two FX sends other sound engines, and the OP-Z can be had for like $300-400 used and that’s a great value!

Hey Son, thanks for the great tutorials as always ❤ i was wondering if you may have or can do a tutorial about bouncing track, re-recording from mixdown, arranging. I don‘t get the re-recording from mixdown for instance. Sometimes it works sometimes not. Even in source is always from out-in. Any suggestions on that?

Thank you!!! I have some of this in an upcoming video. In the meantime…when recording with the Out-In option, don't forget to hit the mic button, when on the tape to activate it ;)

@D0ugFunny10 ай бұрын
Why can’t you edit the note length. it renders this and finger sequencer useless on synths. Plus try recording that loop to tape at the start of a bar so its in sync with the track. These little basic things it lacks. Thinking about sending it back
