Note to self: Never mess with Arnie da Schwartz kangaroo 🦘💪😂 The Sony A1 was a lot of fun and I did enjoy the light weight. Again thanks to team Sony Australia for allowing me to test and review. Crikey!! That’s one hang of a beast of a camera for this genre of photography. Cheers and thanks heaps for watching. Great camera that A1. Yes what a combo it would be with the Sony 200-600mm. I'd be happy with just that set up and use it solely for birds and wildlife. Be light weight too. You have so many focus modes in the A1, but the beautiful thing is you can turn a lot of the ones you don't need or use off, so you're not scrolling forever. I only had 3 I used (wide, zone and expand spot) and it got me through no worries. All gone back to Sony now (tear). Have a great week looks like it's gonna be a wet one 🙏📸

Great video. Wow, you have some beautiful birds there. Those canny folks at Sony are smart to put that A1 in your hands. It appears to be difficult for people not to say good things about it and some of those fast and erratic flight movements bear testimony to the A1’s ability. Nice shots Adrian, no wonder with a $6498/- high end mirror less camera and a quality lens. This is just an observation, when you were shooting at the beach, with conditions being overcast, you should have increased the exposure compensation to +2 at lease to illuminate the bird's face. Then again you could have done it in post.

That's a really amazing camera, Adrian! You were able to get a lot out of it! I would not be surprised if it were your final choice. It seems to check all of your boxes and do it in a smaller no built-in battery grip way. Still looking forward to your time with an EOS R5. You know I chose the R6 because it has R5 level focus in a cheaper and lower resolution body. At the time, it was the only inexpensive camera with state-of-the-art autofocus. Now with the release of the A7 IV, that is probably no longer true. See ya next week!

Hi Adrian, amazing how good eye autofocus works, even in a backlight scene. Never tried on my A7rIV, but I haven't expected that, to be honest :) Seems that you don't have all too much to think anymore about focussing in your wildlife scene, you just can focus on composition. If I'd shoot wildlife as well, I would buy this camera - it's the perfect combination for landscape and wildlife. The only downside side is the price, unfortunately :) Really a great video and I liked all of your images. Have a great weekend, Christian
@adrianalfordphotography3 жыл бұрын
Hi Christian, thanks for watching. I think you especially would love this camera. It's light, good for hiking, good pic quality and can do everything in video and stills. Yes it is a significant investment, but I think you get 3 cameras in 1 (A9II, A7SIII & A7RIV). I know other bird and wildlife photographers use it and can now see why. Have a great weekend cheers 📸🙏

Some amazing images captured here Adrian, the in-flight bird photos are just spectacular. I don't think I can say anything else different than what you said about the camera and focus system...it's awesome and incredibly. Definitely seems a bit geared for sports or wildlife photography, but also performs brilliantly for portrait or landscapes. Don't think you could go wrong with either camera you've reviewed so far. And you can keep those killer kangaroos, scary creatures that I'm glad are native to your lands. 😂 Hope you are having a great weekend!

Thanks for watching Paul..Yes I had such fun with the A1. Really opened my eyes to the world of mirrorless. Shooting in silent mode is just such a pleasure. The only noise is me carrying on like a school boy screaming how happy I am with the shots lol. Those kangaroos at Tinchi Tamba I swear much bench press cars while we're not looking 😂 I do keep my distance. Have a great week mate and take care 🙏📸
@leonkirkbride65593 жыл бұрын
Nice informative video , I loved my D850 but wanted silent shooting for those skittish subjects . I tried the Z6/7ii but they wasn't as good as my D850 for BIF . I took a gamble and brought the A1 200-600 , after using it for a month it was quite a shock going back to the D850. Still a lovely camera but it felt so old and clumsy compared against the A1 . The files are different to the D850 , I find bringing up under exposed images held up better with the D850 but if you nail the A1 exposure higher ISO's are better and held up well
@adrianalfordphotography3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching Leon. I agree with everything you said in your kind comment. The A1 is an amazing camera but the D850 just beats it for dynamic range and keeping the noise low. Have a great day 🙏

at the price point of this camera, wouldn't the Z9 be consideration?
@adrianalfordphotography3 жыл бұрын
If you wanted to lug around a camera that is twice the weight all day, be my guest. Already I've seen videos on the Z9 and a lot of reviewers are saying it's too heavy. Also from some of the focusing tests I've seen looking through the viewfinder it's not as good as the A1. One guy said it was having trouble tracking birds in flight. Sounds like Nikon still have some fine tuning to do via firmware updates.
@bobharris30023 жыл бұрын
@@adrianalfordphotography I've not anything bad about the Z9, regardless I was thinking the Z9 lists for a 1000USD less than the A1 and you already have Nikon lenses.
@adrianalfordphotography3 жыл бұрын
@@bobharris3002 you wouldn’t have heard anything bad as a lot of the videos are predominately from hand picked Nikon backed photographers. I look forward to seeing impartial reviews from smaller channels. I would definitely not being using F mount lenses on a Z9. I think the native Z lenses would perform far better especially if you’re forking out that much money - best get the ultimate performance from it. So I’d have to buy new expensive Z lenses anyway Also FYI the A1 is slightly cheaper here in Australia than Z9.
