Great video Brad, keep the videos coming, really like the BTS with you and David, and the other A6000 videos you have produced.

+Reevus Thank you so much! I'll confess- the 1st time I shot with David there were things about his workflow that surprised me. As I've watched him and he's shared the reasons behind his gear and lens choices it all began to make sense. I've become a better photographer as I've learned from him- hopefully, others can too through the videos! BTW- I'm starting the edit on another studio shoot we did a few weeks ago today, so stay tuned!

Nice work Brad!:) Interesting to see the video knowing you shot it with the A6000, A5100, and a GP. Nice to see David use the A7R as well to shoot the model (tell David awesome picts BTW ... lighting is great).

Very nice video shoot, well done.. The camera is an A7RII not A6000.

+Franky Vee RIght. Click "Show More" in the video description- I disclosed that info. Dave shoots with the A7rii. I used the A6000 as the primary camera to record the video. I also used my A5100 and GoPro 3 Black and Dave's A7ii.

+BradZChef Maybe taking out the "Sony a6000" from the title of this video would make a more accurate title. The title as it is now is misleading.

THere's a number of groups devoted to A6000 video- or videos MADE on the A6000. They like to use word and hashtag searches so I titled it in concession to them. Kind of a darned if you do- darned if you don't situation.Also- a lot of A6000 users are new photographers. I'm getting a lot of feedback from them saying that they like watching a Pro like Dave shoot and find observing his workflow & how he directs models to be helpful. Hopefully, folks have derived enough benefit from the content that thay'll forgive the title foobar. Thanks!

I was disappointed that it wasn’t the a6000. Almost like click bait. Although the photos were stunning and so was model, however I don’t own a A7. I have the a6400.

Brad I have been looking at a few of your videos and I enjoy how you are teaching us that we don't need a huge budget to produce great photos. This video I notice that there is no flash; is this because of the huge light you all were using?
@BradZChef8 жыл бұрын
+Mycheal Jones Right- Dave was using the Rotolight Anova. It's a powerful LED light.

I've had my Sony a6000 for a little over a year now. The other day while on a wedding I noticed after I took a few photos the camera started to freeze. Couldn't change the aperture, Shutter speed, couldn't even review photos or go into the menus. I had to take out the battery. I read online that a few other people are experiencing the same issues. Any solutions?

Would you say the 18-105mm is a good portrait and video lens? And also, what lenses would you recommend for the a6000? I'm looking into doing both photography and videography and the a6000 is an amazing camera for that, but its native lens selection is just horrible, and while its versatility is admirable when it comes to adapting lenses I still want some native AF lenses so I won't miss my shot when trying to manually focus and all that
@BradZChef8 жыл бұрын
+The Dead Immortal Actually, it is. I find that when I'm shooting in the studio I use f/8 -f/13, so this lens is able to accommodate that. When shooting outdoors, I'll use the 50mm f/1.8 or the Rokinon 85 mm f/1.4 if I REALLY need to blur the background or isolate and element, but- I'll confess, I'm using the 18-105G more and more lately.
@yashwinning8 жыл бұрын
BradZChef I heard that the 50mm f1.8 was quite bad compared to the cheaper sigma 60mm f2.8. Would that be true? And have you adapted vintage lenses onto the a6000?
@BradZChef8 жыл бұрын
+The Dead Immortal Whoever told you the 50mm is "quite bad" is someone you should stop listening to! Ha ha! Seriously, the 60mm Sigma has tested as one of the sharpest lenses available for the A6000 & it's affordable! The 50mm Sony has OSS and utilizes all the camera's focus points. Both are great lenses. Spend less time listening to He said, She said, they said and take a look at the shots folks are posting and you'll be a lot happier. I've not adapted any vintage lenses. I do have 3 Rokinons which are all manual lenses. I know of folks who've amassed quite a collection of vintage glass and swear it's the way to go. They may be right.... Also- if in doubt- rent it and try it out! Then you can see for yourself it the combunation meets your criteria for quality and workflow- IMHO

Hey brad, may I ask what ring light was used around 12.20 also great video well done to all the team !!
@BradZChef8 жыл бұрын
+Richard Driscoll The big, round light at 12:20 is the Rotolight Anova (on a stand). David also used this light, handheld, through most of the shoot. When we went outdoors he used the Rotolight neo (the little round LED unit) handheld for fill. Once the model changed into the blue outfit he used the Anova again and a generic ringlight.
@richardjohndriscoll8 жыл бұрын
+BradZChef i was actually referring to the generic ringlight, i would love to be able to afford a rotolight but sadly i can not.
@BradZChef8 жыл бұрын
It is pricey! Have you seen my video "Build a Continuous LED Light..."? Kinda lets you know my bank balance, ha ha! PEr the ring light- I contacted Merry, she's in Costa Rico but said she'd get me info on the ring light when she got back. She said it came with daylight and tungsten tubes and was around $200.

Using manual focus, how did he get the MF assist to zoom in on the eye? Is he centering the eye, then re-composing?
@BradZChef8 жыл бұрын
+Matthieu R When you use MF Assist you're able to move the focus box around. It functions like the Auto-focus feature "Flexible Spot-S".

can someone use a6000 for music videos or..?
@ZCT8088 жыл бұрын
Other than the tips not to sexually harass the model, I don't see much in the way of 'tips' in this video. Just some people taking pictures. That's kind of like having singing tips and then just showing Sting singing a song. Oh and that isn't a Sony A6000. So maybe the video should be called: "Some guys taking pictures of women, with a preface warning men not to sexually harass models."

I also have a6000, what kind of lenses did you use for this photoshoot ?
@BradZChef8 жыл бұрын
+Lakshmana Srinivasa Here's the LONG answer- For the intro I used a GoPro 3 Black, the A6000 with the 18-105G @18mm and an A5100 with the 50mm f/1.8. To video the photoshoot I used the GoPro, an A7m2 with the 12 mm Rokinon, the A5100 with the 16-50mm kit lens, and the A6000 with the 18-105G. David did the shoot with his A7Rm2 and he used the 85mm Zeiss Batis and the Sony 135mm Zeiss (A-mount with LAEA-4 adapter. David uses manual focus with this lens).
