In LOVE with my A7C. Went from an OG A7 to this, got it barely used for $1525 and I'm continuously blown away. With a Tamron 28-200mm that crops to 300mm, and a wide-angle prime... I'm off to the races! This is basically what Sony does to their PlayStations. Release the big one, a few years later, the "Slim" comes out. This is that.

Factor in lenses and the cost difference may evaporate depending on your choice of glass. An a6600 goes for $ 1300 and their 16-55 f2.8 runs another $1300 for a total of $2600. For about the same price the a7c with Tamron 28-75 f2.8 at $800 the cost is an identical $2600l. And if you opt for the a7iii at $1700 the full frame combo would be less. Of course an a6100 would not be price competitive.

Oh definitely! I was blown away by the news colors from the A7C. The one other feature that had me making the jump is the Full HD 120fps with consistent AF that the R lacked. I'm a little conflicted. I've been running with two A6300s for a couple of years now and I'm really debating between the A7C and A7S III. I really feel like I want the image flexibility of the A7S III, but I can't deny that the A7C is way more budget friendly while still packing full-frame and a ton of features. I think I'm just going to keep saving. Who knows, maybe while I'm saving for the A7S III the A7 IV will come out at the $2k-$2.5k price range packing 4k 60p 4:2:2 10-bit full frame. I'll just have to see how it plays out.
@indymogul4 жыл бұрын
Totally fair point! I feel like the a7IV will have 4k 60fps and 10bit to make it worth while to get over the a7C. We'll see!
@sharkylal3 жыл бұрын
I run with an A6400 and A7Sll In my opinion if you dont have a perfectly controlled environment and u run n gun then the smaller form factor is more important. I always end up using the 6400 more because its half the weight and has twice the megapixels for pictures. The s series should only be used if you need insane night vision. 7lll will be better unless you need the flip screen...in which case the 7C is the best option.
@willmannering3 жыл бұрын
If you're primarily a videographer and you care about colour grading 10 bit helps sooo much. I've used the a6500 and the a7iii for years for video and with correct WB and good lighting you can make the 8 bit slog look incredible. But the 10 bit 4:2:2 makes it sooo much easier to maximise your image and not get banding, colour shifting, magenta shifts in the shadows etc. Starting out as a photographer I really took raw for granted, I could mainpulate and push my images in whatever way I deemed served the story behind each photo, but moving to video the codec can sometimes hinder your creative freedom drastically. If you're not going to shoot in a log profile the A7c will serve you very well for video.

The simple answer why to pick the 6000 series (or any APSC system) is the glass. Going full frame can be a trap if you don't have money to buy full frame glass. I heard that when you attach an oss lens to this camera the ibis turns off insead of complementing the optical stabilization. Is this true for both photos and videos?

Wait, did you just say "I wish we could get away from those stupid hdmi ports"?... but haven't suggested an alternative. Do you just hate hdmi or would there be a better solution out there? Why get rid of hdmi? How else could we get the live video feed from these nice cameras straight to our computer for OBS or any recording/streaming software?

I wonder why Sony wouldn't consider a wider lens as a kit lens? At least 20 or 24mm as the widest point of zoom? Especially if this camera is promoting as a camera for vlogs. And now it looks like Sony pushing their customers to buy 20mm 1.8 as additional $900. Which is kinda too much for beginners this camera is oriented for.

Ok I bought this camera couple months ago right when they relisted. I returned it back. Here is my problem. Color not too good comparing to canon, I had som flikering plack lines no metter what I would do. Tried on couple different lens and still had issues. Also no touch screen wich is not a deal brack from some other but it was a big deal for me.

Wish it would transfer 1 on 1. 1800 dollars would be 1520 euros today. However, due to the fact the EU sucks when it comes to taxes for videocameras, this camera now costs a whopping 2099 euros without lens, and 2399 with the kit lens. That's 500 - 800 euros more than the dollar price. That blows.

How come you didnt talk about the kit lens or the size of FF lenses on this body.

Hmm... still waiting for a Sony mirrorless with GOOD in-camera image stabilization with video.... :\

I think you need to wait another 10 years for that to happen, although the A7SII has good digital stabilization. If you want that go with PAnasonic or Olympus.

The day you have the stabilisation of a lumix with the autofocus of a sony camera. I'll put all my bucks on it. Fuji might pull that off though

Probably this feels like using a Sony a5100 ... SD card are in the same place and has a flip screen which other 6000 series didn't had and control dials and that is smaller apsc and this is smaller fullframe

Man I really really want the A7siii. But it’s way out of my budget. I own an a6400 and a pocket 4K. But honestly I think the pocket is kinda too much more my needs. Even though the image quality is fantastic. It would be nice to have an A camera that matches my B camera. And I really hate having to have a huge rig to get what I want out of the pocket. Also the pocket really struggles in low light, even with its dual native iso.
