We just unboxed and set up 65" A95L yesterday and followed your procedure even down to snapping the tabs of the straps as opposed to cutting with scissors. From reading the several forums on AVS, I also knew to correct for lip-synching because we using an external streamer via a receiver. We received a great set - no blemishes, no obvious uniformity issues. The family wanted to watch a movie ASAP, so there wasn't time to do any advanced picture adjustments, so it was OOTB settings. Next thing we knew, we were watching HDR Dolby Vision via Prime. Stunning picture, really transformed our living room into a home theater. I'll be watching for your picture settings video. I have a A95L I purchased in April, 2024. It has been excellent BUT it is now caught in a loop where it turns itself on, shows the Sony logo, a Google logo and then repeats. I am told I have to reset the set using the on/off switch on the back on the set. However, there is a cover over the on/off switch that don't know how to take off. I don't want to hurt my set to get to it. Any suggestions ?

This is such great information!! The menus do look different than my A95K, but am wondering if any of this information can be extrapolated to my A95K? For instance, can I turn off pixel shift without issue? Or does it have a greater effect on the A95K and I should keep it? Thanks Classy!

I can’t seem to get Dolby vision to work. Set my Apple TV to all the same settings as you (4k sdr, rgb high, match range/frame), Sony a95l external inputs set to enhanced, same ones as you on all (I’m connected to HDMI3/eARC though. Even played the exact same episode of Witcher haha. When I look at picture mode it still just says Professional and doesn’t give me the Dolby vision options. Any ideas what else to try?

11:59 solved my issue, I have an Anthem AVM 90 and I had to set my hdmi input to regular enhanced instead of enhanced 4k/120 in order to get Dolby Vision to work even though my processor supports 4k/120. Thanks!!

I'm having a headache of a time trying to get my klipsch Rsb-11 soundbar to play with this TV. Using eARC to the TV hdmi on the soundbar. It comes on and off with the TV, but says the klipsch is unavailable. I managed to connect with Bluetooth, so now after the unavailable message, it will connect via BT. Any ideas?

@classy nice content. I have 2 questions. 1) with my ps5 and sony receiver i had lip sync issues( the sound came after what i saw on the screen) even with PCM selected on the ps5. So i hooked my ps5 to my new an1000 reveiver (hdmi 2.1) and it seems much improved. Did you test it? Is it related to all receivers ? Is it the tv? Can it be solved with firmware updates? 2) i noticed stutter , slow motion with dolby vision content on the prime app (wheel of time, lord of the rings). Can you check it and is there a solution ? No dolby vision problems in other apps.

Question Classy, are the VESA 300 x 300 in the same low position on the rear panel for the 77" version, or are they raised further up due to the option of placing the stand legs more central? Turns out you answered this at around 2:20 into the video, thanks. For me, this lower position is beneficial due to a floating oak mantel piece I have on the wall below. Unfortunately the LG G4 77" isn't an option for me due to the VESA holes being too high, this pushing the screen further down the wall. Thumbs up and a subscribe from me for this information.

Calman for Bravia doesn’t open anything when I do this. I have an apple phone and typing in the address and pressing enter does nothing. Also tried space between IP address, no space, colons for only “port” as well as for both. Holding up your phone doesn’t help because it’s too close and thus blurry. Nothing I did works.

There is no difference in brightness between the two the heat sink just helps run a bigger panel. The A95l is the way to go of u want brightness

S90C bad built quality, cheap plastic very cheap, excellent colour and brightness, but bat in picture depth and 3D pop effect bad , pictures more flatter .. it’s 144 fps and reasonable price .. that everything about s90c

If you want to spend twice as much money for a gain in a few areas and losses in others, no one is stopping you, but shitting on the other options to try and justify your choice seems petty. Do you use both colons for both IP address and Port or only Port? Do you put a space between them or no? Very confusing to me.

Hi, great video but I have two quick questions, has the green tint in DV been fixed and two are screen uniformity issues common, my left hand side of the panel is slightly darker than the right at about 10 percent brightness, so I don't see it often but when I do it drives me nuts.

I haven't measured it, but to me, the A95L even with the latest firmware as of today unfortunately still has the latent green tint in DV (dark) which the LG G3 didn't have. Compared to the rarely addressed issue of color desaturation in low brightness however, this is almost neglectable as probably fixable with calibration at latest.

But how about the color desaturation - did you get that fixed through calibration? Visible in rather dark scenes but it can be quite obviously be provoked by simply turning down the brightness on a player and compare it to other displays (such as an old, yet dignified Pioneer plasma TV). It bugs me a lot that such a premium TV like the Sony is worse in that regard than a TV from 2008.

Dolby Vision as dynamic meta data, you don't need to use any tone mapping with it, using gradation preferred adds tone mapping on top of tone mapping screwing the HDR picture up.

the only problem i ran into.. the audio is out of sync on my marantz cinema 40.. with my old sony A1 oled i didnt have that problem. i now set a delay in the matantz to correct it.. i hope it wil be solved bij a fw update. i read thot more people have audio sync problems withe the A95L.

Thanks for this B; had some thoughts tho. It’s been so incredibly frustrating that seeing all the great things about this tv made me pull the trigger and return the x93L I had for this…and the menu is laggy and slow. More than the Dolby vision issues, this bother me the most. I have the most up to date software. I think it’s fine in normal viewing but streaming movies makes it laggy. Also, settings wise I turn off the led indicator but the tv for some reason will always turn it back on after I had turned it on and off with the power button…anyone else experiencing these issues? Everyone seems to only say great things about it but I’m not so sure anymore if I have a defective model

Great content as usual classy. Sure is an excellent TV. But I returned my 77” A95L for the 85” X95L. IMO it is a better all around TV. It’s amazing you can get that level of perfomance out of an 85” TV. The 77” was just too small and the picture quality wasn’t jaw dropping enough to forego the size I truly needed

My harmony elite remote is not working with the tv .. but especialy the lip sync sucks .. My S95C makes me sick sometimes because of the 3d effect i mean it is hacked to achieve 2000 Nits but it’s insane better than any led. Not sure what your settings are motion can add more depth if you like the soap opera effect

A95L is like Cyberpunk, it will improve and get better with every Update. Expect 2024 to not see another Sony QD Oled until 2025. The A95L is good enough as is, and it is priced as a 2024 model, will be same price in March like a Launch S95D / G4, that's when things become interesting...

This claim might become valid if backed up with at least some arguments. Certainly not that there wouldn't be disadvantages to be found on the Sony A95L with its given price tag, but just throwing in one unsubstantiated one-liner is neither giving any due credit to its pro sides, nor helpful.

@@mikalkielli3351 Please take my notes with a grain of salt as I don't fully trust my settings and observations yet either, but compared to a LG G3 MLA 77" exemplary, the Sony has - only 2 out of 4 HDMI ports being 2.1 compatible, supporting 120 Hz (that one is the most obvious one) - at least on my exemplars: a little bit more vertical banding on gray test images below 12%, however, overall gray tone uniformity and also entire screen uniformity is better above 12% without the slight green/pink tint the LG shows. Hardly visible with regular content though and even on "test scenes" like episode 7 of "House of the Dragon", the slight banding is equally visible on both TVs, so on a par. - no filmmaker mode, allegedly inhibiting to turn off the image processing entirely. - alledged (enforced) 'sharpening' of the image. I've yet to investigate that with spatial frequency test charts myself, but at least in direct comparison, the image appears (!) to be a bit sharper on the Sony than on the LG which doesn't make sense unless the LG would forcefully soften the image. The effect even remains when dialing down the sharpness setting to 0, although 50 is supposed to be neutral. One of both must be altering the spatial micro contrast here. - pretty much more or less colors and contrast not entirely sticking to the standards where LG is said to fit better, at least out of the box. There is a lengthy talk on that by "Classy Tech Calibrations - Sony in depth review" (annoyingly, KZbin doesn't seem to allow linking in general, so look it up yourself if interested) - at least for me black crush (loss of detail in dark scenes) unless I increase the black level or gamma setting. By default, the G3 seems to show a decent amount of more shadow detail. Here, it's also unclear to me whether any update for the Sony fixes this, it is actually indented to be this way (contradicting LG's presentation and they can't both be right) or some firmware update fixes this. At least it can be improved by altering the settings. - loss of color saturation with low brightness which can be ounteracted by using the cinema mode instead of the professional one, but the LG still remains slightly better in my view (at least as observed in the beginning of "The Queen Gambit" with the actress' red dress in low light in the mirror) Since that all sounds quite negative, on the pro side compared to the LG we have (subjectively, as it actually may not be an accurate reproduction): + a lot better audio as to be expected + more detailed settings for the image processing + a hint more "three-dimensional" look, especially on metallic objects + even higher contrast with brighter highlights + slightly cleaner whites where the G3 appears a hint dimmer and tinted + potentially a broader gamut due to QD-OLED although it's questionable what kind of content actually demands for it as the P3 color space supported by UHD BD is said to be a lot smaller anyway than the BT.2020 one, the Sony is at least "approaching". Half-knowledge alert from my side though I'm still unsure myself which image to prefer. The Sony at first overall looks "better", but the big question is how accurate that is or whether it is "beefed up" a bit, which the German reviewers hifi.de and Sony themselves in the interview of "Stop the FOMO" (video: calibrate it or not) don't quite concele that observation either, to say the least.
