Great video ! Even though I don’t own the A9iii, it resonates with my experience. I switched from A7iv to A1, shooting mostly sports. The dials on the left shoulder are weird : my left hand is busy holding a big lens (70 200 f2.8 or 200 600), I have to stop shooting to operate these dials. I also use spot tracking as a standard and the A7iv couldn’t do that : 6 FPS and fixed spot is the limit for a somewhat acceptable hit rate. The A9iii is interesting for flash use, but I'll have to wait a few years until it gets to a reasonable price on the used market.

Great review, can you just turn down the sound of the artificial shutter in this camera or is it necessary to cover the speaker with your finger?

It seems to me that Sony A1 is the best option for today, in terms of ratio. price is quality. Sony A II, for those who can afford it. Sony A I, in the secondary market, costs a reasonable amount of money. Thanks for the video. I'm sorry for my English.))

I got this camera for one main reason: - the global shutter is perfect for electronic silent shooting (with no banding) I have a A7iv and previously used electronic shutter on a film set during a quiet scene as I was tight to the camera op, boom pole and actor but then ended up with banding during some scenes as the location was an old building with lights that had terrible frequency, if only I had this camera back then. More mega pixels would be nice but 99% of the time I compose my shots with lenses and positioning in mind that I rarely crop in during post production. High ISO personally doesn’t worry me these days with how well modern day cameras perform and how well editing software is in fixing photographs of needs be.

4:00 the bottom dial, is useful when you want to shoot animals or nature or do some macro, i quite often use it., and that is faster than use customization and lose buttons important for other things. I personally wish this dial was available in all sony cameras and there was just a way to disable it in the menu if you dont want it. Literally my best purchase, i just love it. For a decade i admired global sensor cameras, and now i could have it in a small form factor. The only issue i have with it, is the missing video features from other alpha cameras, like; Shutter Angle, and anamorphic de squeeze. I wish also you had could do 1/16000 in video, since that way i could expose better if i want to maintain the base log iso of 2000(i just lower it, still, minimum iso is 500 on log) and also a 6k mode and not the 4k oversampled from 6k, that would help a lot in post. It would be great if you could use BT headphones and connect them to the camera either for sound management or to have a extra mic with some headphones. BTW, you cant connect headphone to the 3.5mm jack to hear a shutter sound from there, if you have it in silent mode, the camera doesnt make a sound and neither the headphone connected and if you have sound on, the shutter sounds in the camera, not the headphones :V I would really recommend people to buy the vg-c5 vertical grip if they want more battery life, it last longer than using the 2 batteries separetly and better heat management.

Still amazes me how a company with its own display department can have the worst back screen of all manufacturers in the professional segment while having the best EVF.

my theory is they do it intentionally to preserve battery life. Thats why sony can offer better battery life compared to competitors.

After using a9iii for a year, DR and high ISO is actually fine, backlit shots are still amazing, and the only major downside is just the 24MP. For me, 1 x a1II and 1 x a9III would be the best of both worlds, plus the a9III is still the better video camera vs. a1II, with 6k oversampled 4k60 and better latitude.

Why is there an anti -flicker option if the camera won’t get banding from light? Weird?
@blazeboy7773 күн бұрын
As lights flicker and sensor shoots on the height of the flicker aka when is light turned on. At least it tries.
@maggnet48292 күн бұрын
Helps to keep exposure steady.
@AkiidanКүн бұрын
@ yeah I recognize that, but I thought the whole purpose of a global shutter is to avoid that already. Variable shutter speed flicker seems like something that would be on cameras that don’t have a global shutter because a global shutter is supposed to solve this
@maggnet4829Күн бұрын
@@Akiidan You are confusing two different concepts here. One is banding and the other one flicker. They come from the same cause, though, of some lamps changing their brightness with the frequency of the power supply. Banding happens when the sensor is read line by line and the brightness changes while the sensor is still read. Thus causes dark lines in your image. Flicker happens when one time the sensor captures the image during a phase where the lamp is at full brightness and then later when it's dimmed. You get two images with different exposure. For photography that can be somewhat of an issue when you want to use the same edits on all images, but the real trouble starts when you capture video and the video alternates in exposure and in result flickers.

At its price, this camera makes no sense for wedding photography. I mean, the Harry Potter photos in a gallery are kinda nice but definitely not worth the money they ask for this camera. Talking about the dynamic range being OK... Yes, it is when you shoot outside. What hardly anyone mentions is that the DR goes down when the ISO goes up. And if it's just OK at the base ISO, we all know what that means... Btw, good for Sony, they finally realized that shooting wide open on a bright sunny day with their fast lenses at ISO 250 and shutter speed of 1/16000 is impossible and decided to fix it.
