I got this grip the other day and its useful. Even though I had to modify it as I have the older remote ( wish they sold the newer remote separately ) but one oversight in my eyes is that it covers the tripod mount as it would still be useful to use that mount yet still have it in this holder.

I own also the finger grip for the X3000. It should be mentioned also, that the video is more blurry because of the finger grips length when holding the cam in the hand. So I would not recommend to use the finger grip when you are making a video while walking.

I take it you cant use finger grip with water proof housing on ? what would you get for holding the sony and not losing it while diving?

No, you can't use the finger grip with the waterproof housing. You can get one of these adapters: amzn.to/2mxogut and screw it to the bottom of the waterproof case and then use this: amzn.to/2mNSmf8 if you want it to float or use this amzn.to/2mdKgsc and screw it right into the bottom of the waterproof case. Okay to work the remote do you have to have it connected to wifi? If I'm in the jungle and want to record and there is no WiFi does the remote still work? Can I see the screen?

You don’t need WiFi. It works over Bluetooth.

Have you had any issues with it overheating when shooting in 4K? Mine shut down after 18 min. of recording in 4K. Just wondering if I should take it back and get a replacement. Thanks for posting the video. I do love the camera.

Hello. Yes, I still use it. It is a great action camera for vlogging, walking around (great stabilization), and great sound. If you are doing a lot in wet environments, you may want the GoPro 5 or 6 as it is waterproof without a case, but the sound and stabilization is not near as good. Your response (most prompt!) also contributes to my taking a decision - and it will be the Sony since it is image quality, to which stabilization contributes significantly, which I am interested in. How about the picture quality? I am curious as to how pictures taken with the Sony fare against what you get from a top-of-the-line smartphone or compact camera.

i just have this stupid gimmick in my hand and can't remove the remote control. sony has no clue for western user friendly design. they are quirky and fiddly....they have the tech, but they have no empathy of a user obviously
