My Dad gifted this CFD-545 in 1995 October 23... since then I fell in love with this music system for almost 11 years... nostalgic...

These were great systems.

I'm late to the party but the first thing you should do with these things is to clean the optical pickup (laser lens) with alcohol.
@JordanU4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for letting me know, that seems very obvious now that you've mentioned it.

@@JordanU You are welcome. The best stuff to use is Isopropyl but anything alcohol based will do. Be sure to dry it off with compressed air afterwards.

Nice. Seems that the CD players on these older Sony bookshelf systems go out more frequently. I once tested a similar Sony system about the same age as this one, and the CD player wasn't working.

These were quite good quality units so that does come by somewhat of a surprise to me, but it’s entirely possible.. Perhaps they’re not failing of natural causes, for instance being stored in extreme temperatures in an attic for years after they were no longer popular.. I never really used CDs, so I can’t comment from personal experience as to how long they lasted on these units..

I just searched for SONY CFD-575 and your video came up. I watched the video and do not have any questions about what you covered. I have a question about the Three position Switch on the back side (right). Appreciate if you can clarify what is it for? what does it do? You can see it clearly at Time 0.38. To the left of the big certification text. Thanks Sri. Just found out that it is ISS - interference suppressor switch for the radio. My boom box stopped working suddenly and I was working on it. Noticed the switch but could not find what it was. Manual does not say anything.

I bought the same one when it was brand new. It still works perfectly but the locking tracks on the rignt speaker broke. The speaker no longer attaches to the unit.

These were quality units, they last quite a while.

Very surprised the tape mech worked, my fairly cheap 90s sony bumbox had melted belts
@JordanU2 жыл бұрын
Probably all depends on storage, many of these likely end up in a hot attic for years which ruins the belts.

I don't understand how "Panasonic" morphs into "Panasonics" but "Sony" doesn't morph into "Sonys".

I don’t understand how your comments always have a like the instant they’re posted..

One thing is for certain, I'm NOT the one hitting the like!
@JordanU5 жыл бұрын
That’s certainly an interesting proposition; if what you wrote was an opinion shared by the community, the number of likes should grow as the post exists, but it never seems to..
@jaykay185 жыл бұрын
Usually that's because after the original release of the video, and it has its initial view spike, the views tend to level off. So it's got a much smaller amount of people who actually stop and even read the comments, much less bolster them.

@@jaykay18While that statement is true, it does not offer an explanation for this kind of behavior..

My Sony stereo a.k.a. Sony boom box CFD-260 Is Very vintage because you can’t find the stereo on KZbin and I have the stereo the only thing the CD player lens needs to be cleaned or replaced but it’s duel cassette Player with CD player it’s very loud it’s got mega bass And remote control which I don’t have the remote control which activates the mega bass And it’s a very heavy stereo the stereo is very very loud which I might be selling it on eBay for $300 maybe less because people they put these boom boxes like this one on KZbin the one I’m watching on KZbin this video he can sell it for the same price for $300 maybe more because his stereo and my stereo are hard to find that’s why they cost so much
