I think Sony's CEO is right about the Metaverse and Mobility. These are not only key disruptive technologies/platforms for Sony to focus on, but also two key things that Sony is very well positioned to take advantage of due to Sony"s unique set of assets.

They should have collaborated with Mercedes tbh, look at the EQS, its industry leading and Sonys car actually looks quite similar to the EQS. Hondas small hatch EV is the shittiest in its segment.

Disagree. Honda's build quality is better and more reliable than Mercedes. Go look up the annual reliability and customer satisfaction of car brands. Honda is near the top. Mercedes is near the bottom. They are notorious money pits. And that's essentially what Honda will be doing. Building the cars. Sony will be taking care of all the electronics and technology. It's going to be an entirely new car company/brand that they will form. An up market EV brand where Honda's main job will be manufacturing. And that part Honda is very good at. Also, there is another very good reason for Sony to have chosen Honda above any other car brand. The fact that Honda makes a lot more than cars. They are the largest manufacturer (and many would say best) of motorbikes. They also make airplanes. Go look up the Honda Jet. One of the best selling private jets in the world. Sony said that they will be looking at where else they can collaborate with Honda. That means there's a possibility that Sony could put their EV OS/UI/infotainment platform on Honda bikes and jets. Not only in the cars they will make. Mercedes cannot offer that.
