I gotta admit, halfway through the video I started preparing myself for a jump scare at the end😂😂😂

Thank you for a great unbiased review!

Can you tell me how you raised the db? Was it done by using the iris or exposure?
@UKAirscape6 жыл бұрын
Neither. Raising the gain (aka ISO)
@JPVideos816 жыл бұрын
Is that done using the ring or touch screen?
@JPVideos816 жыл бұрын
When i go under the focus ring options, i see iris, exposure and ae shift but i dont see gain. Is it somewhere else in the settings?
@UKAirscape6 жыл бұрын
There's no direct gain control but there is a gain limiter. By having the cam in a dark environment with a fixed shutter speed, it can be reasonably assumed the cam is opening the iris to max and leaving it there. Thus by amending the gain limit, you are effectively allowing the camcorder to add gain in steps of 3dB, which it will want to do because the scene is so dark. This is as close as you can get to proper manual control of it.

Yes indeed it seems the 53 performs best Thanks for this

I assume a comprehensive full review is on the way? After your outstanding HXR-NX100 review, you are now the go to guide for all camcorders of all price ranges. It really aggravates me to no end that Canon and Panasonic won't let you review all their products. They're doing a disservice to you and all consumers worldwide. Gutless corporations.

Haha, thank you. Yes, I've been a bit slack on the review front but I do indeed intend to get round to one very soon. The upshot is that I like the camcorder.

Hi! Thank you for this video. Is it better to shoot in 4K or in HD in either low and good light conditions, football games. I wonder how the camera will do if I zoom in accross the field, are the players going to be "visible"?!
@UKAirscape Жыл бұрын
In good light, 4K. In poor light, HD. All depends on the light though.

yes i do for your mean

I am looking for a new camcorder in 4K. like this lowlight video you did. but my question is, what was your light source? depending on aperture, what would be decently lite to human eyes might be well lit for a camera. so your light source is of interest to me.
@UKAirscape7 жыл бұрын
That was such a long time ago, I have no idea what I used. It was more of a comparison between the two camcorders in relation to each other than in terms if their outright low light capabilities.

How do I increase the gain?
@GhostsOnTrent Жыл бұрын
Shoot in these settings for better low light. AGC Limit = 9db
@UKAirscape Жыл бұрын
That's not "better" low light, just fixing the amount of gain the camera will add. It will prevent more noise being added but also means dark images will remain dark. There's no single "best" setting, it depends on individual needs and circumstances.

After all your tests, which settings would you generally recommend for the AX33 in low light conditions?
@UKAirscape8 жыл бұрын
No. As I said at the end of the videos, the AX53 is clearly better at masking noise when gain is added.
@TimothyStidham8 жыл бұрын
+UKAirscape my wording was imprecise. I meant which settings on the ax33 produce the best results (to your eyes) with the ax33 in low light.
@UKAirscape8 жыл бұрын
I apologise; my answer was rushed. Well, using HD is really the only thing that you can do because there's nothing settings-wise to make it better or worse. The camcorder largely functions in auto because it's designed that way as a consumer-type "point and shoot" and there's nothing you can do to enhance it in low light.

Why id the AX33 has better low light than AX53 (more expensive)?
