Sony Fx30 Vs Panasonic S5II - Which is better for wedding videos

I like the quality from Panasonic cameras too. One thing I hate about my Sony Fx30 is that I can't shoot in HD because the quality is terrible. Sometimes I don't need 4k, and I've never used a Panasonic camera that didn't have good HD

Thanks for your response! I've decided on the FX30 due to its wide variety of lenses and affordability compared to the expensive Panasonic S series lenses. The opengate features are tempting, but it's unfortunate they lack 4:2:2 on opengate and 4k60 crop on normal shooting. I'll wait for the S5 III then. Hopefully, by that time, third-party lens companies like Viltrox and Samyang will join the force to release a much wider variety of affordable lenses for the L mount. Also, I've already subscribed to your channel 👍🏻

I have always had Panasonic GH series every since GH2 was around, still use 3 newer versions on shoots but wanted a sharper video along with excellent auto focus so I bought the FX30 for that reason. On Thursday I did a final wedding dress fitting for a longer video documentary style for a wedding in February. The picture is a lot sharpen than my Panasonic. Filming a big 6 hour New Years party Sunday night, using 2 Panasonic GH cameras for tripod shots of band and such but the FX30 will be main camera. Filming in S-cinetone and will color match cameras easy with Davinci. Also have the same external battery you have to charge internal battery while filming--works great--thanks for posting that video and answering the question I had.

I have been getting good results with my FX30 (and an extra a6400 as B camera) but I think this year I will get either a second FX30 or FX3 but this Panasonic looks solid...however I'm not crazy about mixing cameras etc..I will look for a video with some footage comparing them...thanks

In a choice between the fx30 and the s5ii for events and low light - hand held especially - I'd pick the S5ii. They only way I'd use a crop sensor sony camera in low light settings is if I'm recording externally. That internal noise reduction on sony crop sensor cameras is just garbage. If I had to choose between a micro four thirds or sony apsc for low light, I'd pick micro four thirds. Only sony camera where internal noise reduction isn't an issue for me has been the ZV-E1. The internal gyro data of sony cameras is clucth though. I opt for gyroflow instead of catalyst browse. better image quality. I think a really discussion would be choosing between a ZV-E1 and the S5ii for events and weddings. For me, FX30 doesn't even come into this context

I don't understand the low light thing, but that could be because I'm not a full frame person yet. The only thing that worries me about a EV-1 is a lack of fan. I had some pretty hot weddings this past year. The fx30 just kept going with no issues

@@MichaelWTurner The low light thing is a combination of several factors, all of which help save time when it comes to turn around and delivery. When it comes to the ZVE1 sensor or even the FX3 and the A7S3, with regards to low light, They're on a whole different level, even one compared to other full-frame cameras - especially other Sony cameras in general that don't allow you to disabled in camera noise reduction. With the higher ISOs on the ZBE1, I really have no issues running the aperture to f5.6 or even f8 indoors. While with crop sensor cameras, I would never even consider it. Couple that with an f1.2 lens and I am seeing in the dark at levels where my eyes cannot even see. That sort of range is something I couldn't even dream of with crop sensor cameras. Now with other full frame cameras from say Panasonic or Canon I could get away with higher ISO settings. But then I'm definitely going to have to run it through some noise reduction process as well. Not to say that I wouldn't have to with the ZVE 1, but I really wouldn't consider having to apply noise reduction until after 100,000+ ISO. With regards to any sort of overheating. I understand that it is a concern but I have yet to get it to that level. However, the longest I have done any kind of recording is about 40 minutes. I've also done live streaming for over an hour and I still didn't get any overheating indication. But I think that's probably more due to the fact that at the moment I am visiting Denver, Colorado in the winter time. I also have a cage on it which I'm assuming helps with heat dissipation and as a backup. I do have one of those fans from ULANZI but haven't had to pull it out yet.

Out of the FX30 and S5ii, the A7IV is the best. Because Sony and Full Frame. And always use a gimbal for cinematic movements.

Negative...S5ii is better than the A7iv
