@MarkBennettCameraCrisis2 жыл бұрын
The fx30 is a very different camera than those. it can only take one photo at a time with no mechanical shutter. it is a video camera with cinema specs. The ZV-E10, which I compare to the fx30, has the same sensor and processor as the a6400 and a6600 so if you’re looking for video comparisons, look to those videos. Great video. To me, the A7-4 is the overall winner. Best sharpness, best low light performance and about equal rolling shutter. The choice is easy :)
@MarkBennettCameraCrisis2 жыл бұрын
Yes, overall the A7iv is a better camera for me, but there are people who prefer having the 4K 120 and the cinema features raw output and time code longer record times. I can absolutely see why someone would choose either!!

Peter and Mark: good points. I own an a7iv, and it’s a remarkable machine. Also own an a6400 and zv e10. Thought momentarily of replacing at least one, but realized that because portability very important to me want to keep the smaller bodies. More: an a7iv weighs the same as an fx 30 (though lenses also a factor); but since the former better at stills, it remains a great choice for me personally.
@mortystation Жыл бұрын
Is it? For me is pretty clear when I introduce lenses into the equation, which in most cases have waaaaay more impact in the quality of your image. I can get a set of apsc cinema-class lenses for half the price... even more; and the options are more abundant for super-35 too. Let's not even talk about high quality zom glases. Noise? Who cranks the ISO over 2500 for profesional uses? I can Barely see the difference in this test. And last... Do you shoot interviews, outdoors or do your shooting days last for an entire day? well, a working camera is allways better than a warm non-functional camera, no mattter how good is at 8000 ISO. Choice is never easy, is always subjective and relative.🙃

Awesome video. Funny enough, I’m not sure which KZbinr said it but it does appear the A7IV is the best APSC camera you can get😂😂😂? Obviously it’s full frame but between the sharper 1080, the 4k60, the vastly improved rolling shutter, and flexibility to still shoot of course in full frame, it’s awesome. For $700 less, the FX30 still brought with it most of the A7IV plus some extra goodies. Great comparison and really appreciate the work you put in.

I'm glad you did the 1080 test. A lot of cameras don't do so well and judging from your results looks to the case with both of these too. Most of my work my client has no need for 4k, its being delivered over the web so I'd prefer the higher bitrate lower resolution and file size. In addition for multi camera work It's quicker and easier editing exporting 1080 and takes up less hard drive space too. I gather the advantage the fx30 has is lower price tag, smaller form factor, an less expensive apc lenses, while the a7IV is FF and better suited to be hybrid for video and photography withe the viewfinder.

A simplified way to compact this information, The A7IV shoots slightly better images overall due to its slightly better noise performance, you can basically enjoy the same image you would get from an FX30 all the way up to 60fps in APS-C mode in the A7IV, but also benefit from the full-frame sensor for normal content at 24/25fps at the cost of rolling shutter, however, the FX30 does shoot sharper 100/120fps as it can be put in 4k however that's a 1.5x crop onto another 1.5x crop, so for some, it's not that useful, and they seem very similar sharpness wise when shooting 1080p at 100/120fps. Best Approach for my own reference later 4k - Full-Frame at 24/25fps (Looks slightly sharper than the FX30, and benefits from the full-frame sensor at the cost of more rolling shutter) 4k - APS-C at 24/25/50/60fps (Looks the same as the FX30, you can basically enjoy the same image you would get from an FX30 all the way up to 60fps) 1080p - APS-C at 24/25/50/60fps - (Is actually sharper than the FX30 at 1080p) (!) A7IV - Don't use Full-Frame when Shooting 1080p - use APS-C it's sharper. 1080p - Full-Frame - 100/120fps - (Looks very similar but the FX30, BUT the FX30 can go 4k 100/120fps which looks much nicer but also needs to crop onto its already crop sensor) (!) A7IV - Don't use APS-C when shooting 100/120fps use Full-Frame it's sharper.

Great video! Finally, some questions answered that barely any other reviewer touches. Question: starting the crop comparison in 24p at 2:45 , did you switch immediately to the sigma 16mm on the A7iv or is that the 24mm FE and framed similarly? (I assume all crop tests were the Sigma 16mm on A7iv and FX30, just wanna make sure) :)

@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Yeah the more I think about it, I go in phases where I shoot a lot of photos so the A7IV is probably the better option. 4k60 works well for football, there are just those times where 120 fps would allow me to slow the motion even more. It's mostly speed ramps so not a big deal. I think I would miss having the photography side of the A7IV. Maybe Sony could push a firmware update to add 4:2:2 10 bit to 1080 120 FPS. Gerald Undone has an A7SIII and but uses the IV for his main shot, because it provides more detailed footage. I'm leaning towards the IV, but I suspect the FX30 would be a nicer camera to to use, with better build and ergonomics for video, plus the audio handle.

Rolling shutter is a big issue for me as I do cg visual effects and need to be able to accurately track the footage. I mostly get away with it with my GH5s, but need some stabilisation and autofocus on my next camera. I don’t have a lot of money and selling my GH5s and sigma 18-35 is not gonna make me a lot if I wanted to completely replace my kit for an A7siii and new lens. So I was maybe thinking of getting the OM-1, but so far I have not seen any rolling shutter tests on it. What are your thoughts on that camera for what I’m talking about? I need dynamic range that is the same as the GH5s in VLogL if not better and 10bit internal recording. So I think the OM-1 could be good for that.

@@gamedesign1 the OM-1 has rolling shutter of 5-7ms in 4K depending on 8 or 10 bit. @@MarkBennettCameraCrisis I think being able to decide how much sharpness to dose is important for professional use. The APSC has a lot to say and being able to use super35 cine lenses is a plus. Thanks Mark you are a treasure.

1. You use sigma 16mm vs 24mm Gmaster? Why not the new Sony 15mm ? 2. Again, you use the FF 24mm G master in Apsc camera!!! Wrong decision, not the best result with an FF LENS, on Apsc camera!! For the "results", don't blame the cameras neither the lenses!!!

I used the GM for all of it except the 4k120, rolling shutter and lowlight tests. It was explained clearly. At the end I showed the 16 on the FX30 against the 24 on the A7IV for people who were curious. If you don't use the same lens - then differences can be attributed to the lenses. Please pay more attention before you criticize a video. What 'results" did I blame any camera? Do you think a Sony APS-C will be better in lowlight and IQ than a Sony full frame? Because that will not be the case. I bought both of these cameras. If you don't like the differences between them - I can't help you. I encourage you to buy the cameras, buy the lenses you want, put up your video and you will discover the exact same results that I did. You think the the performance of APS-C lens like the 15 on an APS-C body will be better than a G-Master lens that happens to be full-frame? If you think that - I am sure you did not do the tests. Also, the performance of the Sigma 16 is equal to the 15mm in every way. I have a whole video on that - tests and all if you want to check it out

@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Misunderstanding? You got a great FF lens (24mm G), with a good FF camera A7iv. THE SAME LENS on an Aspc camera produces "worse" results. It's not my fault, it's not the lens' fault, it's not the camera's fault!!! Physics is to blame. There are several technical articles, WHY IT IS WRONG TO USE FF LENSES, on APSC CAMERAS!!!. That's all.

Perhaps it is a misunderstanding - You are overstating the differences of using a full frame lens on an APS-C body. A great full frame lens will still produce better results than a lesser quality APS-C lens on an APS-C body. There are minor advantages (mostly imperceptible) to IQ using APS-C lens on and APS-C body. Check it out for yourself - you will not find any APS-C lens producing better results on an APS-C body than a GM lens. This may be a slight advantage for full frame - but there is nothing to be done about it. It's why I showed at the end the Sigma 16 vs the 24GM - the sigma 16 is optically the best APS-C lens you can put on.

Apparently A6400 4K is quite a bit sharper than FX30. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nJ6YiWxohN-EgKc

Overall yes. The fx30 has its own strengths though that are crucial for some people
