Sony FX6, FX3 & FX30 - This would take these cameras to the Next Level

I think open gate will be the next big thing for cameras in general. Much like it was the leap from 8 bit to 10 bit

My FX30 wish - Open Gate 6K - with RAW (internal would of course be awesome) recording capability, and internal ND. Honestly I haven't noticed the rolling shutter - I think that depends on how much fast moving action you shoot.

Touche on the name- kinda forgot that! One issue with Global Shutters up till now is a reduction in dynamic range and an increase in noise - a tradeoff that is not worth it for me - I am sure we will 'get it all' soon enough thought! @@keith-knittel

@@GlobalShutterNY Yeah, I'm seeing that on the a9 iii. The first base ISO starts at something like 200 or 250 ISO? I'd love to get one in to do some testing with it to see what the difference really is to my eyes vs specs on paper. I don't need the speed of the a9iii, so I'll be keeping my A7RV for stills. But still would love to see the difference - especially in video

Do you need a camera right now? I think the FX30 is the best camera for the money at the moment, followed by the FX3. I think both of those cameras have a very long runway before they're "outdated"

Any idea why my Ronin RS 2, when I’m using it with my FX 3 Sony camera, won’t show a picture on the screen on the Ronin? Raven eye gives me a picture on my cell phone, but I only get the crosshair over a black screen on the Ronin itself. All cables are mounted correctly, and I’ve even tried adjusting the HDMI out settings. Any input would be appreciated. I’ve even tried using different camera control cables, both the multiport and the USB C. Nothing gives me a picture.

Just saw this, any luck? Are your USBC setting set to something that black out the screen when you plug in a USBC cable?

@@keith-knittelI don't think so, I tried just using the Sony multi and got the same result. I've seen a few other people, on reddit and some other forums, indicate they are having the same problem. Contacted DJI and they are elevating it up to the "engineer" level. Are you using the FX3 with the RS2 and getting a picture on the ronin screen? When I owned and used the A7SII I'd get a picture all the time. Currently running Version 3.00 on the camera. I won't upgrade, as the newer firmware makes using offbrand batteries less functional. It also will not integrate with the Nucleus Nano II camera page. And I believe I've heard that some people can't find the PAL setting after upgrading. May consider the September 2024 upgrade, as I understand they will be adding shutter angle. Thanks Keith. Keep me in the loop if you hear anything.

FS5 / FX6 / FS7 / FX9 cams are usually on a 5 year cycle. And people are still out there shooting on FS7 cams, so feel very secure in the knowledge that if you buy an FX6 it won't be outdated for a while

I don't think A7Siv is coming. Rumor the AS line is done. FX has replaced it but I bet a removable view finder will be an accessory you can purchase separately. Don't quote me. Just my opinion.

I have no idea either way, I thought Sony would skip the A7S line, but the A7S could be the A7 version of the "video-first" camera. While the iii and iv are hybrid, and the R is photo/resolution focused. It makes sense that they would still have it in that regard, but the FX line is also video focused? But with a different body. Your guess is as good as mine! Ha
