I just bought this for $280 brand new on Ebay. I can't wait to arrive and play with it!

Great tutorial on the LED video light and the camera's menu (what all the menu items mean) without all the stupid intros and other crap. Thank you.

This is a set up video. I wanted to see footage with and without the light.

How do you like this light so far? I just bought it but am having second thoughts because of the weight. Just worried about being fatigued to easy by going handheld with my sony fs5. What is your experience so far?
@alexswhite6 жыл бұрын
I mostly use my camera on a tripod, so the weight has not been much of an issue for me. I think it is a good, reliable light. Of course, if the weight turns out to be an issue for you, that is hard to ignore. But I like the light myself.

Here is a link to the manual for the video light. I hope it contains the information you need; I do not have any other information about the item. pro.sony/ue_US/support-resources/hvl-lbpc/manual

Is Sony HVL-LBPB compatible with Sony Alpha a6000?
@alexswhite3 жыл бұрын
It's compatible in a sense, because it can be placed in the camera's accessory shoe and operated manually, but I don't believe the a6000 has the special Video Light Mode command that some Sony cameras have, that cause the light to be operated automatically when the camera is operated, depending on the setting of that menu option.

Now if only someone made a Tally Light that works in the same way. So we can use the Rec Link function in a useful way.

I just received my light, sold to me used, but 10/10 condition from B&H. The light will NOT work on my new Sony FXW-Z190 camcorder, or my A9, but does work when you plug it into the adapter...what gives?!?!

It’s hard to diagnose a problem without seeing the equipment, but my first thought would be to check the battery. When I first had this light, I purchased what looked like a genuine Sony battery, but it turned out to be a cleverly designed fake. It would work in some non-Sony equipment, but this light apparently is designed to not work with fake batteries. Here is a video that explains one approach to detecting fake batteries: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eovPfoVrrLOLkLM If that doesn’t turn out to be the problem, contacting Sony technical support is the best bet. I eventually did that, and the technician was very helpful in assisting me to determine that the battery I was using was fake.

Alex, thanks so much for the reply. I actually found the answer (although it is not a good answer...) to the problem. On an obscure Sony Webpage at about 3 AM, I found this comment, placed alongside the light, with an asterisk that said, “The light does not draw power from the Sony PXW-Z190, or the Z280”...Now why would they make a light this expensive and attach via the MI shoe that doesn’t draw power from the camera’s battery?!?! You could buy a light like this for $100, but $550!!! Alex, you should include this fact on your beautiful video in the comments.

Oh, I'm sorry to hear that. It is strange, but at least you found the answer. I hope your comment will help someone else avoid that problem.

@@scottabergermd does that mean that it works with sony fs5?
@scottabergermd5 жыл бұрын
@@HumanProduction1333 I honestly can't tell you. I just don't know. I will say this: This light is designed to sit on the hot shoes of the the Z280 (which I now own, having returned my Z190 for many reasons), AND it will only work under it's own battery power. BUT, for these two cameras there are settings in the menus that are relatively easy to find, that will allow the lights to only turn on when you are recording and make them work more in tandem with the cameras. That's the only value to these $500+ lights. I would check with Sony directly on the answer to your question before you go through the trouble of ordering one and then getting the surprise of your life (so to speak). I hope that helps.
