Helldivers 2 URGENT UPDATE - SONY has backtracked on the PSN requirement for the game!
That's right, not even SONY could stand up to the might of a united Helldivers 2 community. The evil megacorporation has been soundly defeated by the soldiers of SuperEarth and will no longer be requiring the linking of player's STEAM accounts to their Playstation Network accounts.
But is the damage done? Will Helldivers 2 be able to recover from this fiasco? Has the game been saved? Let us know what you think in the comments!

No, Sony is not defeated. Like automatons, they've been pushed back but they still lurk in the shadows. Their statement literally says it - "we're still considering what's best for PC players". Which means that their direct assault failed, so they will plan their next one and make it more insidious.

Honestly a glorious day, not only for gamers but for consumers. Big companies need to remember that customer satisfaction has always been and should always be the focus of the business. Had very little optimism that this would be the outcome but guessing the mass refunds of the 150 countries that weren’t listened on PSN was a big reason for this decision. FOR DEMOCRACY

I do ask that we stay vigilant and wait to reverse our reviews until Sony (or Steam) puts back the game in the 177 countries where it was recently de-listed. You can delete the negative review but I emplore those who really care to wait until all of 177 countries are able to purchase this game once more and join our ranks of Helldivers. Thank you.

Now wait a damn minute. They didn't state that it would never be implemented. They just said it would not be moving forward. But "we're still learning what is best for PC players and your feedback has been invaluable." So basically they can just implement at a later date if they want. So I would argue this is not a clear win. NEVER underestimate the idiocy of corporate tyranny.

Sony still needs to be held accountable for their actions. As a publisher they allowed Steam to sell to countries with no PSN access for three months. Intentional or not that makes them liable for fraud.

@@SaltyNerdGaming most of those times that didn't work if not all, they didn't work because people were selfish, each person for themselves and were undisciplined. When people do it right no one can stop people, we have the money, we have the numbers and we have the crafts. Bud light crumbled, Gillette took a hit and reverted, even Larry Fink from BlackRock, the most powerful person in the world that controls many companies (including in game industry) felt the heat so much that he had a breakdown. So no, they do work as long as we're in unison, persistent and not selfish

Definitely a big win. Good on Sony for recognizing the error and reversing course, that's how it should be when a mistake is made, not attacking the fans and denying everything as some tend to do.

I entered the world of gaming pc via steam deck and rog ally. I bought a Ps5 for helldiver 2 because i didn’t know it was on pc. During this crisis ive been rooting for pc. As a young pc gamer we dont like this behavior

Dear Divers! Don't let the corporation throw sand in your eyes! Yes, Sony made it clear that we hit their frigate with a shell, but victory has not yet been achieved! We need to keep our finger on the pulse! And monitor all the actions of the treacherous faction! The problem still persists: - Steam/Sony have not yet resumed sales of the game in the previously excluded 177 regions - On the Steam page there is still a requirement for a mandatory PSN link Let's not be fooled by corporate oppressors! Keep your negative feedback directed at Sony headquarters until all targets are fully resolved. Save your review and give yourself time to keep your promise: let the changes take effect on Steam. Also the game will return to sale from blocked regions and the mandatory PSN link will disappear. We will only change the review when all goals have been achieved. For Democracy!

I think Sony was honest in that they learned something about PC gamers. PC gamers are not stuck on Sony's singular platform and can or will go somewhere else if done wrong. I would add that enough people probably did link accounts for Sony to consider it a win. Finally, with HD2's success, Sony sees a new market in PCs and doesn't want to alienate that market, just yet.

It's wild to think that because the game was too popular at launch to enforce the PSN linking system requirement due to server overload, they can't do it at all now because fixing that technical issue got so much pushback.

Besides the massive, negative blow-back, I think folks in Sony/Play Station saw how much money they were losing by cutting off all of the folks in countries without PSN. And since PS wants to port more games to PC, they needed to do this reversal lest they lose future sales.

I’m still VERY skeptical. I’m not giving them praise for making a stupid ass decision and then be like “ok, we’re not going to do that”…. (For now). The Steam release of Ghost of Tsushima is next week and I have a feeling they’re going to push it into that and no one is going to be paying attention and it’ll slip right under the pop culture radar (but I hope I’m wrong).

The backlash was swift and precise like a orbital precision strike. Sony backed off and we won the battle for now. Just hope that Sony wont pull something like that again or retaliate against Arrowhead team. What we have to learn from this is that the whole problem was that this PSN thing would have sent a lot of our brothers into the shadow realm. It was for them that we fought back

Let's not get things twisted not every playstation player agrees to have an account for every game. Just like there is pc players that give 2 fs and agreed to it. Just because I chose a console to play on doesn't mean I fully agree with everything. Just like you don't agree with everything that has to do with what you choose. Thanks for the suggestion but I will, in fact, not re-purchase the game OR remove my negative review. I will buy it again, after my free 71 hour trial from the refund, if Sony makes changes to their Stellar Blade decisions to start. And I wont remove the negative review until I see that Arrowhead makes staff changes after the character of their mods and CMs was made apparent through their glee at banning their customers, make false claims of SA against their customers, and insulted their customers only to then "apologize" by making it out as if they were some hero "jumping on top odlf a grenade to save their friends". And I know that either of those will never change, so keep the negative review as a parting gift.

I do agree with this. While I sometimes hate the suits from SIE their developers keeps delivering bangers. Helldivers is one on them. They could've easily force AH to makes this game a micro trans shithole but they supported them all the way during the development of HD2. They did fumble w/ PSN integration but AH and Sony are equally at fault on this. Thank god it all work out for the best.
