Sony MDR-XB550AP Review

En mi opinión, este es muy buen audífono on-ear: - Muy buena construcción. - Resistente: lo tengo ya más de 2 años sin ninguna protección para el polvo y funciona sin problemas. - Es cómodo. Al principio me incomodaba luego de 1 hora. Aprendí a acomodarlo mejor, apoyándolo más en el cráneo, no totalmente en la oreja y la incomodad acabó. - Precio muy justo. En Lima lo vendían a S/ 135.00 (aprox. $37) en el primer año de pandemia. - Con la ecualización de medios-agudos y agudos mejora el sonido considerablemente. De este modo, no es tan necesario bajar los medios-graves y los graves. - Asimismo, el uso de solo un Dongle DAC/Amp decente ayuda mucho al sonido. Se nota claramente el cambio. - No he usado el micrófono, pero la prueba del video me ha sorprendido en cuanto a calidad de sonido y claridad de voz. De hecho este no es un audífono para profesionales o críticos exigentes, pero sí se puede disfruta mucho la música. Si tienes productos de más de $100 este no te va a sorprender. Pero, pero el precio, recuelve muy, muy bien las necesidades básicas. Es muy recomendable usar ecualización para lograr el sonido que más te guste. Personalmente me gustado mucho en música electrónica, baladas, reggae, hip hop. Creo que no se obtiene lo mejor en rock o metal. 🔴⚪🔴

One of the bests headphones ever existed. 5hz to 22.000hz frequency wired and well built. Unfortunately Sony noticed that this was a good and cheap headphone and discontinued them to sell those garbage CH500-CH700 wireless series and leave the good features as the same frequency to 900-1000 series wich cost around 120-200 dollars LOL

They are pretty good,mine was doing fine until the cable got chewed on.I decided to go old school this time and have Sony MDR-CD280's coming,they might have been crappy back then but,for $20,they are probably better than new $20 headphones no doubt

Just got them after a long time searching for this model and the XB450. I have yet to use them for a while and come to a veredict on audio performance but whoa! hey are pretty bass heavy. About my only complaint is the glued earpads and head band cushion, kind of a bizarre and extreme decision from Sony to cut costs. I originally got the MDR XB200 back in 2012 and I still use they and they are going strong. They do not have the best audio but they are very comfortable, simple and durable. I like they playful and perhaps even toylike colors and design. I miss this era of Sony. I have the MDR XB400 incoming so I guess I am kind of an MDR XB collector now.

Did sony discontinue these headphones? For real, i can't find them anywhere, i'm surprised i found a review of it in 2023, so i'm assuming you got them recently. Mine are going bad, i have them for 5 years now, and i need a new pair of those.

although now they are all wireless, this 550ap is bass heavy headphone then the sony XB950n1 OVVERATED bass.

Why would a wired headphone need software support?

To access an equaliser in the Sony Headphone app which could include Clear Bass adjustment which is designed for their headphones (since these are extra bass headphones), better control over voice assistant functionality, etc.
