I'm gonna look for any battery problems on my mdr xb650bt since I've had this pair for 5 years. It still works great and I'd like to keep it as longvas possible and I haven't noticed any battery problem yet, but I might experience it one day. I'm saying 5 years but I just don't remember what year I've bought it.

Hi. You probably need to replace the battery. Definitely try a new charging cable and wall outlet first though :)

It is a common problem for Sony headphones. It is related to software and not the battery. Use a paper clip to press the reset button. This will correct the charging or power on issues!!

Before un-soldering the battery leads, I used a multimeter to check for voltage- 4vdc- hit reset button and heard that lovely "HEADPHONES ON" voice again. The reset button is on the circuitboard, top left.

Sr. i bought the MDR-XB950B1 a few weeks ago while i was in the US now that I'm back in my country they won't charge, would replacing the battery there is no light while they are connected to the charger or computer and they come on for a few seconds before going off because the battery is out of charge. What do you think i should do since getting a refund is out of question?

Hi. Is there a way to tell that battery is faulty? My phones can't be turned on, but are fully charged. Voltage on the battery is 4.2 V. Also I know that power button works because when connected to pc, power button lights phones and they are detected by pc. Thanks.

Hi, The most likely cause is that the battery is bad and needs to be replaced. The board could also be faulty, but this is less likely, unless your headphones recently had physical or water damage. I would recommend trying to replace the battery. Sometimes even just de-soldering and then re-soldering them will fix the battery issue :)

Nice to know this can be done and well done video. But if I can find a repair shop near me, I'd rather pay someone with experience with a soldering iron do it. Would probably still be cheaper than buying one myself
