Thank you! Such a helpful video. I live in China and I ordered eos M few days ago. It costed me just about 75$ for almost new condition. I’m gonna use only manual lenses, like 7artizans or Meike, or old Canon FD lenses and I can use all of them on eos m mount. I also bought an hdmi 5 inch screen which can be mounted on hot shoe. And yes magic lantern gives you focus picking and much more, but I personally don’t use focus picking at all.

That's a great deal! Also with a monitor you won't need focus peaking much anyways since you'll have a much bigger screen to look at for focusing. Congrats on the purchase!

i prefer colors on Sony Nex5r. but day by day I use EOS-m with mlraw - it's another level. raw 14bit 5k frtp and 3k 24fps amasing details, dr, colors and so on. but without Magic Lantern i think Nex5r looks better straight out of the camera.

EOS M can go up to 30 fps and NEX 5R to 60 fps. This is a big difference if you want to get a slo-mo effect.

Search for some older builds, there you'll get also 60fps with an adapted resolution. But now that's already a long time ago.

there's some new sigma lenses for the ef-m but they are sooo expensive, however for video I'd take the Eos m for photos I prefer the sony ..

If it were me, I'd just adapt the Sigma 18-35mm f1.8 lens. I own that lens and adapt it to Micro Four Thirds with a speedbooster.

I think you can get focus peking on EOS M when you install magic lantern but I never did so I'm not sure

Yes. So many different features. Still learning. Nice shout out to Zeek, he is pretty awesome. Been learning how to use my eos M as a great secondary cam to my eos R. It's incredible what can be pushed on these cams.

yooo... 16-18 years young boy... if a lens is not from the new generation this not means it is vintage :)) Most of Canon lenses are younger then you :)) Not anything older then 3 years means is old, nor vintage. You could say that MOST Canon lenses are from the PAST generation, just because Sony didn't count at all when they started making mirrorless cameras and pushed them really hard on market changing the industry

how does the photo and video footage compares to smartphones (lest say top end and mid range) ?

I'd say with the kit lenses, they will look very similar to smartphones, but less resolution and sharpness (All new higher end phones record in 4k and even 8k now). The way to get these cheaper mirrorless cameras to pop is by using wide aperture lenses to make it pop and separate the background from the subject.

I’m just I’m just looking at this video and I’m leaning towards the Canon because it has the mic Jack because I will use the Canon for vlogging in KZbin at my desk like you are in your video also I wanted to know if the kit Lens that goes with the Sony ZV-E10 will it fit on the Sony NEX-5R? I have a Rod Pod mic & being that I’m just a beginner I don’t know how I would go about connecting the audio out since the Sony doesn’t have a mic input (SMH) if you can please me how I go about connecting the 5R to my Rod Pod mic then I will go for the sony besides the Camera matches my Silver 21’ HP monitor & my silver KRK Rokit monitors

yes the kit lens with the sony zv-e10 will work with the nex5r cuz they use the same lens mount

If cost isn't an issue go with the a6000. If your budget isn't very high you can get an NEX 6 and an extra lens for the same price as an a6000 body.

well, I disagree a lot! The NEX is well known for its low light capability everyone but him raves about it and I have taken some unbelievable quality outdoor video and pics in very low light. especially when you magnify the available light in zoom. I have also taken cave picks and videos that my other cameras simply crapped out on. If you want an excellent low light get the nex these bedroom shots are not a good test for low light you have to get outside on a tripod and see what it can do... My daughter has the eos and she borrows my nex need I say more?

Your daughter is probably taking your nex because of the flippy screen. They should both perform almost similar in low light using the same aperture.

kit lenses are most versatile. i also got 25mm 1.8 cheap but good. manual. and also old vintage takumars, canon fd's etc.

Is anyone else startled by how much worse the video quality is on these compared to the A6300, despite being only 3-4 years older? Combined with how quality from Sony's APS-C sensors hasn't changed in the 4 years since the A6300, I'm very confused. Super wish they'd bring back these older smaller body styles, though. The NEX-7 is just the A6xxx but with better control layout and nicer looking build.

@@CriticalTechReviews my bad, i was almost sleeping when i read this the first time. yeah, the price difference it's awful between a used a6400 and a Nex5 and the video quality does not justify the price. i've been looking for a cheap under $150 camera. but the only thing that pisses me off it's the lack of mic jack.

1234 5678 well for me the difference between a nex 5 and a6400 is night and day, well worth it, but the difference between an a6300 and a6400 is absolutely nothing sensor wise. They just added more features, not more power. So the real jump is from the old series to the a6300. Smaller jump price wise but still hits the performance ceiling of what Sony cares to make.

@@CriticalTechReviews well once you have a market cornered you can just sit on your laurel. Look at Samsung with phones etc. So many competitors have quit the camera market. Only sony and canon really competitive, well there's hope from Olympus in Japan. Everyone else pretty much finished. The market was very different in 2013.
