If you need to know more about the Sony PS-LX250H turntable, this is far and away the easiest introduction to operating this system, including information about the installed pre amp on/off switch and why Sony decided to install a preamp in this model. The creator of this clip did an amazing job of explaining everything in the most simplistic way. Very grateful for your video. It answered many questions and solved a few issues I was having. Thank you, and God Bless your family, and you and may your autumn be bright and delightful. Cheers, Danny 🇺🇸⚓️🗽⚖️🙏🏻

I remember I bought my first Sony PS-LX250H turntable at goodwill for $13 since back in high school about 5 years ago even it was in great condition.

I got mine @ best buy in 2006, it was the ONLY turntable they sold there at the time. Paired with my marantz receiver from 2001, the sound was acceptable for me. Perfect starter unit for anyone who just needs record playback no questions asked!

I upgraded my stereo system in 2006, and this was one of the few turntables available to buy. I've had it ever since. I was considering upgrading I was looking at the Audio Technica's but I'm not sure it's worth it knowing it takes the same stylus.

If you can get an Audio Technica with Bluetooth and the dustcover for under $50, I would go for it over this model. You could spend a couple hundred dollars more and find excellent automatics from Technics or Pioneer. I would spend more if you're trying to get Audio Technica. Have you checked out my other turntable videos? I've reviewed some excellent automatic turntables that you might like. Thanks for watching!

Just saw your vid it being 3 years ago but I saw your system and was impressed seeing that you had an equalizer ,a lot of these reviewers have the unboxing vid showing TT and powered speakers and some of them speakers do not have bass or treble controls anfd think they are listening to good system inmy day equalizers were very imp[ortant a lot of records were mixed by different recording engineers and some types of music were lacking intreble or bass,being of hispanic heritage my music was of the hispanic type their records some werenot mixed well and be lacking in bass and too much treble ,and listening to rnb rock and jazz and you !!!!!! are the only !!!!! person to point out that the newer recievers past the mid 90's have very limited bass and sound horrible when playing records THANK YOU for pointing that out ,FINALLY someone with intelligence ,you do not know how many vids i have seen of unboxing systems with TT,speakers and cd players the all inone type and there is no bass and treble settings and they sound really bad I cannot see how they say these are great are they deaf cause I can hear it ,I liked the sound of your system it sounded very full ,you should of showed the equalizer working and then disconected to show how you can taylor the sound to get the max out of your records that is purpose of the eq. on your sony I found an aiwa turntable made 2009 in refuse pile by my house it looks just like the one you showed,if memory serves me right they are all made by same co in china called hanpin and all will use the 3600 audio technica cart they are very good carts and as you can see the sony being an automatic it did not sound bad a lot of snooty audiophiles frown on any kind of automation do not know why guess cause being lazy idiots with nothing better than to put hard working people down I do not know for sure ,being a product of the 70's I grew up with records and stacking auto matic players I have 7 automatic stacking type player and they do not !!! scratch records THATS a fact !!!!,and I got fed up of being told what is better for music ,to me its just a way to charge more for a very simple manual turntable ,if you see VWESTLIFES vid on who made the turntable cheaper to make more money ,a JAMES DENNIS is the idiot thats why you see all these cheap plastic TT's another suggestion if you can find a tube amplifier these are small amps a lot of them are made in china but are very well made they have modern electronics built in but it is set up that the music goes through system and through the tubes making the bass very full but not muddy and really clear and treble is a little softer I used it on my sony surround system I have since 1993 it makes it sound really full I have a BSR 610 running through it an a pro-ject debut 3 and its good it gives the amp more cleaner yet fuller sound it makes up for trhe cheap electronics that they use in it but this was a VERY!!!! GOOD !!!! vid JRo

Thanks for sharing your story my man and sorry for the late response. The guys that stil use a bad design for turntables like the Crosleys or Victrolas actually did you a favor. If they made turntables right, you'd be spending $1000-$2000 for a turntable made like a 1980's Technics line of turntables. Go with vintage. If they were well maintained and taken care of, they make great daily users. Just keep them greased and clean and they should be fine. Thanks for watching!

I have this same model that I bought many years ago at the Florence, KY Best Buy. The date on the back is July 2006. I just put the belt back on it. I will set it up to plug into my HP Laptop. I had gotten many album sets online from Amazon and Ebay. I found a storage container that has tabs to alphabetize your collection, and I am going to set that up. I do have a brush to collect the dust of the albums. Next time I go to Best Buy, I will look for cleaning solution and scratch repair kit, and a spare belt. I found so many albums at Best Buy. I still have some cassettes and a double cassette player from years ago. I found Michael Jackson albums with his picture silk screen right on the album. My sister has a whole bunch of albums and I will get her a cleaning and scratch repair kit, and I got her the same storage conatiner that has dividers that alphabatizes your collection which I found at Walmart.

Hello Joel! Great review on this gem. It is my beginner record player and I'm loving it. I was wondering, my needle drops down about the same as yours does when engaged. But I was wondering if that level of force is ok for the record ? Can that force be adjusted to come down lighter or is it fine ? Thank you
@joelsdiy9469
@joelsdiy9469 2 жыл бұрын
Hey pizzaROX, i think the tracking force is correct on mine (tracking at around 3.5 grams) which is what recommended for my stylus. If you want something that tracks lighter, you could always upgrade to a Technics SL models. I actually just reviewed a belt drive technics recently. I would also weigh your tone arm, to make sure it’s appropriate for your turntable. They sale scales for this on Amazon.

I would look at the specs on the cartridge. I believe that this uses the same cartridge as the Audio Technica lp-60. I believe that one can go up to 3.5 grams but don't quote me. If your turntable is heavier than that, I would clip a medium sized binder clip as this seems to correct overly heavy tonearms. This is a temporary fix as I am not sure if the tone arm can have it's tracking weight adjusted. Thanks for watching!

I have had this record player for years. Recently started noticing that it seems to skip easily, and as I am playing a record it starts to distort near the end of the record. The last two songs especially. Does anyone have any tips on how to adjust the tone arm? Should I just put some weight on the bass of the arm?
@joelsdiy9469
@joelsdiy9469 2 жыл бұрын
I would check the counterweight. So find out what is the recommended weight for your stylus. It might be that your tracking a little too heavy. Also your cartridge may need alignment. You can get yourself the a stylus alignment ruler to adjust the cartridge alignment from Amazon and a counterweight scale to measure the weight of your tonearm.

Too fast? Than you can easy make it slower! Desinstall its plateau ( the big part which turns where the vinyl lays above) Under the plateau,you see a big ring almost so big as the plateau self is! You will see the original rubberband.Take it off (desinstall it!) Take a normal fat,wide rubberband . Put it around the ring! Put than the original band around the extra placed fat rubberband. Now the motor needs more power.So the speed will be slower!!!! If the speed is still too fast than you have to place a second extra rubberband! With 2 extra rubberbands did I succeed to get this turntable's speed synchronic with the same song playing by a cd player!

It was so good as the same turntable,smaller an Akai one with same buttons and technick and parts. Repaired it on the way as above written. Than later I saw video kzbin.info/www/bejne/nHawoHStgdV_eq8 ...minutes 18:42 and discoverd than that you can control the speed on the back side by turning screws in 33 and 45 holes.(without having a scroboscoop turntable or pitch control buttons on the top side! as I have/had on other turntables). Did not change the Akai one which was already ok by the extra rubberbands. But repaired another turntable....Lenco....above the screw is gel/plastic....push your screwturner with some power deeper and it will reache the screw! Look to the video....and you see how you can in an easy way turn to the right speed! Succes!!!!

LOL, I'm sure you could (gently), but if you are using it to DJ, I would just get a professional turntable. This turntable is for casual listening. Its light and if you scratch too hard, you might accidently push it off the table. Also the tone arm is very light so it might skip while your scratching your beat on the vinyl. Thanks for watching.

You might have problems with the AV cables that are hardwired to the turntable. If you have some soldering skills you might be able to desolder the stock ones and upgrade to some better quality cables. If you're not confident about this, try clipping off the AV plug tips and buying plug tips to replace them. Some have terminals that all you need is a flathead screwdriver to connect the wires to the plug. I hope this is helpful. Thanks for watching!
