To be honest I feel like that morbius having his own movie made a little bit more sense considering his origin has no connection to Spider-Man in any way until later on in the comics Spider-Man did interact with him the only real problem I have with it is the fact that the film was just super boring if they executed his origin in a very good way maybe the movie could have been at least decent But yeah the only good thing that came out of the movie was it's memes😂

Sony would have to be high on bath salts to sell their Spiderman rights. Hell even though Morbuis bombed, it technically broke even because it wasn't even that expensive to make. It had a budget of around 80 million and still was able to break even with 160 million. Now that's not great but I'd say it did better than Disneys The Marvel's or The Eternals as their budgets are stupidly high.
