I watched this video like 2 months ago and ended up getting the XM-4’s. I came back to write a review because that’s how good they are. I previously had the Bose QC II’s. They were really good, but I constantly had issues connecting to my (Samsung) TV which was super frustrating. And the battery didn’t last particularily long. The Sony’s beat them in almost every way possible. Connects to my TV and phone instantly and without issue, and the sound quality is almost unbelievable. I can listen to a song I’ve heard a hundred times and it feels like I’m listening to new music because I hear so much quality that I never heard before. I even hear sounds in the background that I don’t think that the studio meant to record. The ONLY place where the Bose’s are better is the comfort of the ear pads. The Sony’s aren’t firm enough and make a slight crinkly sound when you move your head. I don’t know how you have an oversight like that when designing headphones but here we are. The Bose’s are firm but comfortable and feel cooler around your ears. So. The Sony’s are absolutely amazing if you can afford $500 (CDN) for headphones. But about the earpads... does anyone know where you can get more comfortable replacements?

Glad that they included the function that allows you to connect to multiple devices at once - that's actually such a key function, I cant wait to try the noise cancellation on these headphones - the XM3 already had some of the best ANC out there

Guardian Leopard doesn’t connect wirelessly, but can connect via headphone jack. The mic also won’t work which is really unfortunate; the sound for single player games is god-tier though. In general the mic is pretty poor as well; usable, but just not very good.

If you can justify the price difference for a way better mic, and being connected to your phone and laptop at the same time ( mainly so you don't have to disconnect and connect and hold buttons every time you want to switch devices), go for the xm4's. Huge quality of life improvements, because that's all that bring the xm3's down. The auto pause play on the xm4's is useful as well, but more of a plus for the xm4s and not a downside of the m3's. If you only ever use one device and have to make a call on your headphones once in a blue moon; the m4's improvements won't mean much so go for the m3's. That being said, the m3's are also marked down quite a bit and it's much easier to justify their price at that, compared to the m4's. So if the m4's are juuuuust a tad too expensive for your liking, the m3's are 95% of the way there for only 70% of the cost.

With the dual inputs, can you listen to both at the same time? For example, an Audio book on your phone, and quite back ground music from your PC? Yes, this is a very niche case, but one that comes up for me a lot as an issue.

Thank you for this review. My only real nitpick with the XM3, is that tapping to pause, needs to be done pretty darn hard, and is *loud* when done. Did you notice if the XM4 is better in this aspect? I would surly upgrade, if this is noticeably better.

M2 has way better build quality that M3 and feels more premium. M3 makes a lot of plastic noise but more lightweight and comfortable. I had both of them.

Love my XM2 but sony needs to make the build more durable. My headband is cracked after 2 years of use. For a headphone product this expensive there's no reason why they shouldn't last 5 years or more.

I have the Beyerdynamic Lagoon ANC and the sound quality is abobe de rest. Bose, Sony and even Sennheiser are below in terms of sound quality. The Bose and Sony have better ANC but not much to get the sound quality of the Lagoon away. If have the opportunity try the Lagoon

MrPirateking619 well technically no since even before the xm3’s were released the Bose qc35 iis had multipoint Bluetooth connectivity and as for the ear space and cushioning, it was never really a problem since the xm3’s were really spacious and had just enough padding

@@nightmare_fnm6506 exactly Bose had it Sony didn't and that's wat turned som people off Sony but now Sony is offering multi device connectivity ear cushioning and ear cups not being big enuff was written in many reviews alsoany people mentioned in reviews the headphones weren't built well as in it squeaks while folding and eventually it falls apart will need to see if that's been improved

Hey Caleb! Any ideas on whether this would be a good “home theater” headphone for watching movies at night? Have an LG CX and want to be able to “crank the volume” while others sleep at night. main improvment that i'd want these over the xm3 is music pausing when you take the headset off and the automatic talking detection. Decent improvements
