Depends on how much traffic noise bothers you. If you want absolute isolation, then go for ANC. The passive NC of the 520 is enough to drown out small noises heard at home but not traffic.

Don't know if you've made your decision yet but I've been using the 520 for more than an year now and the lack of ANC is honestly its only downside. I didn't even know that it has a "passive NC" because I can hear basically everything outside unless I have some audio playing at medium volume at least.

hey, thank you so much for your comment! I think the difference between headphones and earphones is personal preference. I prefer headphones as I can hardly ever find ear tips that fit comfortably well especially when I am on the go. so for this, I prefer something like the 520 where I don't want noise cancelling and I need to hear the environment around me. having said that, "audio quality" is quite subjective and I highly recommend you go to an offline store and listen to the headphones before making a purchase decision.

And they were on sale at Walmart for $39.99 Well worth the money Plus I only use them on discord to hear my friends as a headset or my games on my PC The mic I have is a Logitech so I haven’t put the built in mic to use which I’m never going to so I can’t speak on the mic quality So these are perfect for what I needed

Both have their pros and cons for comfort. The 520 is more open allowing your ears to breathe for long use. If you want noise cancelling then the 720N is much better but I couldn't use them for more than 60-90 min at a stretch. the 520, I could wear for much longer.

The XM5s are uber premium and are worth the price. The 720N are for those who are on a budget and want great sound and don't mind compromising on the build a bit when compared to the XM5's. At the end of the day, value for money is different for different people. SO I highly recommend you go and experience the headphones before purchasing.

I want sound quality (bass heavy is preferred) and no sound leakage. I can buy 720 but does it make sense to pay almost double the price of 520? if you will be playing games on the PC, then go for something with a physical connection like 3.5mm or a dedicated dongle to avoid latency. rest, I think you've answered most of your queries yourself. The 520 have once leakage but at high volumes, it is more than i'd like.

Hey, thanks for your comment. The main difference between the xb910n and 720n is that the xb190n have a more pronounced bass than the 720n. so if you like more bass, go for the 910n. If you like slightly more neutral sound, then go for the 720n.

I am very confused between the two options. I don't care much about ANC if the on-ear CH520 is more comfortable than the CH720N. I know on-ear headphones can hurt if worn for long hours, based on my experience from about 10 years ago. So, are the CH520 headphones comfortable enough for watching movies, or should I go for the CH720N since they are over-ear? The CH520 price is really good, and I'm hesitant to spend more on a budget headphone like the CH720N because, for that price, I could even get the Samsung Buds2 Pro. However, I want to try headphones rather than earbuds. Man, if only the CH520 were over-ear, it would be perfect. What would you suggest?

Thumps up I am looking for good Sound Quality for day to day usage , i am not an audioprofile. just want to clarify if i should extend my budget and get the XM4 at Around 18K or Opt for 720N, is there a major difference in sound quality apart from much stronger ANC and other features or are they similar/close enough in terms of sound. I would prefer a bit of bass. Please let me know your input so i could make my purchase decision according.TIA

if you are not an audiophile, then you can go for the 720N. they will not disappoint and will save you the money as well.

In my opinion, if it is just about sound, the 720 are better. I found a bit of EQ tuning dramatically opened them up, and removed some of the muddiness.

Hi Sameer, i liked your review. I have to buy between 520 and 720, can you suggest which one would be good. I want to go with 520 but it doesnt have noise cancellation feature. You also mentioned that it was difficult to wear 720 headphones more than 90 minutes in a single go. Which one should i buy?

Depends on your use case and requirements. What will you use the headphones for most? And also where? How important is it to drown out noise around you completely.

Thanks for the reply. I want to use headphones in my office and I don't want to get disturbed by the chit-chats of the colleagues. I also want to use headphones while travelling to watch some videos on artificial intelligence and Machine learning.

I have large round head and have spects. I want to watch movies and music. Sound quality should be clear I am not bass fan. Does sony 520 hurt head or give pressure near ears?

The pressure from the 520 is only a little. it will get a little lose over time, so that's there. But overall, very good and comfortable for long use.

I think you have answered your question yourself. But let's break it down into 2 simple points. If ANC is important to you, then go for the 720N. I think they should work better than the 520, especially for airports. But I like to take long walks and be aware of my surroundings. Also, in the summer in north India, it gets quite hot. So for those reasons, the 520 are my choice.

​​@@IdiotBox86Thanks, You're right, I have almost shortlisted 520 because of the size and it could be more versatile, 720 has one disadvantage it gets hot quickly inside. I use the oppo m32, but the drivers are not enough for many sounds. I tried the Samsung buds fe, even though music was rich, again drivers are small, it wasn't practical for me and signal strength of the buds are poor over 7 feet. - Thanks

Well, if you have already purchased it, then why go for something else? In my opinion, using the CH720N in a gym is a personal preference. The problem is that your ears can get quite sweaty in noise-cancelling headphones. Add to it the gym, and your ears could get uncomfortable. But since you have purchased it, what has your experience been like?

While fit and comfort is a personal perference, I think you should listen to them offline to know which one you like better for sound quality. The JBL has 3.5mm but the Sony does not. This is one thing to consider.
