Looks like a few of you guys are using Samsung buds with apple devices. One question: why tf??????
@iZ3C0LD7 Жыл бұрын
Used to have a Galaxy Buds+ I use with my iPhone X before upgrading to the 13 Pro + AirPods Pro 2 last year. They (the Buds+) still work from my previous Galaxy A50 ages until the iPhone X (and now my dad have the Buds), and that I'm unsure whether I'll be jumping to Android again after the X. So yes, "they (still) work" is one of the reasons. Sound wise, they do sound great for the price and what it is, easily comparable to AirPods Pro while better than the normal AirPods 1/2 (and obviously the EarPods which I find the AirPods sounding slightly more rich than these). From my experience the Buds+ and Buds2 are the same as AirPods 3 in terms of sound and noise isolation. Fun fact: the Galaxy Buds app on the iOS App Store only works with the Buds+ and Buds Live, while the same app on Microsoft Store works with the Buds(2) Pro, Live, and the FE.

I have no clue on the depth of your knowledge of acoustics/sound, but I'll pretend it's average for the sake of this. Coming from an audio engineer with successful friends, go down the path of Sonarworks SoundID, and resonances in headphones/speakers and rooms. No two headphones are the same, so Sonarworks eq's are never perfect, but thats where resonance/eq knowledge comes in. If you have time one day, look up all of your headphones, and look for the flattest responding one. After, look for one with great high/low extension as you're using it for pleasure (I assume), load up a trial of Sonarworks, and spend some time researching resonances and EQ by ear. After, listen to a variety of music, and slowly make a few custom eq's. Compare and contrast, which one sounds better, and research why. Rinse and repeat. Eventually you will have a headphone that will happily handle any and all you throw at it. Remember, high end audio is mixed and mastered on very flat setups, so you don't need to worry about getting everything you can out of each song, once properly setup, that's the best the headphone can do for anything. Properly done music has and will be created on a setup that is after a flat response, BUT to translate to other systems, which does not mean it will sound better on a colored setup. A great mix on say ruler flat headphones with a "perfect" waterfall graph would make especially the average person cry. As of now, it doesn't really exist, and i'm not sure if it's scientifically possible without spending millions and millions of dollars. I will warn you, it may ruin listening to music for you, so take it with a grain of salt....

I have a Sony MDR-V6 that was handed down to me. They produce an incredibly smooth sound, and if you're suited to something warmer and/or creamier, then you probably won't really like it all that much. It also doesn't have noise cancelling, and it's more suited for a studio. It's definitely not a first choice of everyone, but I didn't really have a choice anyways. In terms of comfort, the V6 is a hybrid of over-ear and on-ear (this definitely affects acoustics as well). I have aftermarket ear cups, so they're quite comfortable, but your mileage may vary, depending if you have the original ones or not. The V6 is discontinued, but they make a newer version of it, the 7506. The 7506 has a less bass than the V6, as far as I've heard. Both have insane clarity (compared to other non-audiophile headphones), and such they're used in studios (including podcasts).
@Alpha8713 Жыл бұрын
I've used the 7506s for years. They aren't the best at anything, but they're comfortable, reasonably affordable ($100), and widely available. They're also repairable and last forever if you replace the ear pads from time to time (and, occasionally, the curly cord). They work well for me.

You nailed it with AirPods Max-they fit into such a specific niche that I think it's a given that most people who buy them are fickle. My main priorities were to not have in-ear headphones because of earwax and battery degradation, and to have automatic switching between my Apple devices. And only one pair of headphones fit that bill, so I had to get them... I did wait for the USB-C model, but tbh with them only having USB-C and nothing else, I feel like even more of a tool than the Lightning AirPods Max owners.

There's on other reason for AirPods Max - if you want noise cancellation but the AirPods Pro simply will not fit or stay in your ear, then the Max is not a bad option. At least until the headband fails, at which point it leaves grooves in your head. And yes, I tried the XS silicone earbuds and memory foam ones as well. I eventually ended up getting a silicone molded earbud, which of course pushed the total cost into the Max range.

Great video spot on. Also as a Sony XM4 nerd whenver I see AirPods Max in the wild, I know right away the person who wears them doesn't understand music quality and purely bough them for fashion or bragging rights. The AirPods Max famously do not support lossless audio-even wired-and iOS & macOS do not support any Bluetooth codec that transmits high-bitrate audio data. They're too cheap to pay the licensing fee.

I'm not gonna claim they're better or worse than other headphones, they're just the right ones for me; it's not that deep P.S. Funny how you mention music quality as if the XM4s don't have a terrible frequency response that any self-respecting audio professional would avoid like the plague (like any pair of bluetooth ANC headphones; not trying to single the XM4s out, any bluetooth headphones are for convenience first and sound quality second)
@halkon4412 Жыл бұрын
iOS and Mac OS support AAC, which is basically just AptX under a different name. It’s not lossless, but neither is AptX. AirPods Max not supporting wired lossless is a fair criticism, but it could be that people who buy them only care about Bluetooth. Wired functionality doesn’t mean much to most consumers of BT headphones. I’ll never understand why people think it’s a personality trait to needlessly disparage anything Apple-related.
