@@ccalhoun3908 It was in my old “man cave” accessory building for Mario Kart 64 Battle Mode and occasional movie nights until last year. Unfortunately, the 16x16x16’ building was on my mom’s rented lot and her landlord sold the whole neighborhood after she was there nearly 45 years. I was still displaced by a 2021 tornado when that happened and had to make room for her so it’s been in storage with my other CRTs for several months. :( I actually donated my big screen 52” flat panel KDL-52XBR LCD to Goodwill since I’d rather not waste space/money storing that. The KV-30XBR910 still takes priority. ;)

Been fortunate enough to get a 36in and a 32in Sony Trinitron WEGA with HDMI off of Craigslist for free about 2 weeks apart. Those XBR models I think are even more rare. The HDMI is pretty crisp and as far as lag goes I've been able to work my way up to Mike Tyson on the NES mini through HDMI so there can't be much.

I still have that tv, stand, glass shelf, and all. Not many people had hdtv’s then. Lcd’s were only like 20” big and expensive. Big screens were rear projection or dlp. Plasma’s were like 10k lol.

These televisions are beautiful, I had one a while ago and the music videos and movies look incredible and aesthetically they look beautiful, the only bad thing is that where I live, they are super rare, you will only see the occasional Philips but not Sony. And yes, they are ridiculously heavy, heavier than a 4:3, I hope to find one suddenly.
@Xerxes1688
@Xerxes1688 11 ай бұрын
Yep, the Philips Cineos series. They universally suck. If it has an HDMI in, it usually fails. or the upscaler fails. If t hat happens, you are stuck with 480i resolution.
@lamusicademorfeo

@@Xerxes1688 Yes, in fact I found a Philips and the image options are very basic, in the end I didn't stick with it, I'm still looking for another 16:9, I also found a couple of Samsung ones but they always had colored spots in the corners as if the degauss It would not reach those areas and it did not demagnetize correctly. So I'm still hoping to find a Sony.

@@lamusicademorfeo Also, don't mess around with the service menu on a Philips, or else you can brick the TV or its CMOS chip. If you try to get access back to the service menu, the TV will turn off. The quality of the tube is not that great, the power supply is also prone to malfunction.
@lamusicademorfeo
@lamusicademorfeo 11 ай бұрын
@@Xerxes1688 Ok, I didn't know about the possible brick when accessing the service menu! I tried to clean the 16:9 Philips inside and it was a real nightmare, it has many electronic cards screwed into plastic and metal supports that are not easy to dismantle at all and it is easy end up breaking these supports, and many cables to connect between cards, it looks very modern inside but it is really a nightmare to clean internally.

WooooW you got a very cool sony crt tv,damn i wish i had this back in 2003 because it would,ve make my life complete back then,because i absolutely do love to see nes & snes games at wide screen without scanlines and with bright colors along with pseudo stereo sound to make mono sounding more crystall clear over both speakers, I tout i would like to play nes games on an lcd screen but graphics do really look blurry on it so a crt screen is better,i miss those days of the crt screens also because it’s light is more dynamic,on a lcd screen the light just looks flat.

Been running a toshiba 34inch hd CRT as my only tv for about 2 years now. Thing looks amazing, the only issue i have with it isnt even the tvs fault, its that the switch doesnt do interlaced signals so i have to play in 720p instead of 1080i.

@CaptainJord0

@@WrYSVrZrtr you're not going to be able to without some sort of scaler, which in turn adds lag. Probably less than what a hdcrt will add but still. Best bet is probably just emulate, if you've got an AMD card you can still interlace a signal in windows.

Just picked up the same TV and purchased the same audio extractor and had the same problem. My theory is that it doesn't work because the Audio-extractor probably doesn't recognize 1080i signals, only 1080p. My solution is to get an HDMI splitter box that is compatible with 1080i and split the HDMI signal, and have one go to the Audio extractor just for audio and the other go to the HDMI-DVI adapter into the TV.

I guess if you would attach a Xbox planning on using lower resolution it would not make sense to do it with the XSX, the S would do just fine, cheaper and consume less energy. I actually would like to grab a Chromecast or Mi Box of some kind to stream movies. It would be nice to have that on the room. I have a 20" Toshiba here at home and even though it's 4:3 and tinier than my monitor it's already quite funny to watch some movies.

They have pretty bad input lag on lower resolution consoles, the internal upscaling is pretty slow, but if you feed them1080i or 720p it doesn't have to scale anything and you get latency comparable to sd crts

my toughs on the subject from my own experience... none of these super fine pitch and high scan hd trinitrons display 720p and 480p natively. they are all 540p. so in order to avoid lagg from processing it is mandatory an external scaller capable to output weird resolution such as 540p. there is Silicon Optics IA-100, it is capable to properly process 240p and also can output custom resolutions and timings, and also it accepts digital signal trough DVI. one of such devices could make this beauty of TV shine and even display scanlines on 240p signals with about 1 frame lagg. the built-in scaller that does the DRC-MF thing is pretty much garbage, better than on other brands but still garbage. as an alternative GBS with custom firmware could do the job as a external deinterlacer. or something like Kramer VP-747.

Why not just use an hdmi to component adapter? HDMI is just component in one cable really. HDMI can carry over HD digital and HD Analog. If you get an "active" adapter it will transcode the analog to digital and vice versa, but you should just pipe over the analog signals in a passive adapter instead as it will prevent any lag AUX on the coaxle is for something like a VCR.

!!!! Working on these requires discharging them !!! One easy thing to try is a bit of cleaning, like the cable from the "suction cup" down to the motherboard and flyback transformer. Dust can accumulate and cause arching in that cable which means power doesnt reach the tube (or something). Generally clean it with alcohol (or water, just let it dry really well). Also there is recapping, adjusting things etc. Heck, I have showered CRTs 🚿💦😜 (Would recommend a hair dryer and a warm room for a few days after ☀️)
