As an extensive Sony phones user, I can confirm that the thing draining battery like crazy (and this is not shown properly in the settings) is the camera. There might be other small stuff that we are not aware of, or do not show correctly in the battery usage, but using the camera, the battery just goes away pretty fast. :D

Actually, most of those shots came out looking best on Xperia IMO, except for that one indoor light shot, that last nightshot and that one yourmug portrait shot. I dont like pixel and iphones night modes, they make bad looking washed out shots, even OnePlus does better than those, although it helped them be better for the last one. Overall, very good camera on Xperia in real life test.

A nice video. Shame about the battery life when using the camera but that’s the same with my iPhone XS. The more you use the camera the quicker the battery depletes. While on the subject of camera. It’s a shame there’s no night mode and the photos turn out more saturated than other phones as for portrait, well your face looks almost like a white sheet of paper. For me though the ergonomics of the phone are a real winner the narrow but tall aspect ratio does it for me and it’s nice to see an always on display. Just 2 questions? Was the phone on pie or 10? And which would you prefer between this and the pixel 3a on the basis of battery and camera quality?

Sony won't deviate from their price points because, in the Japanese business mindset, Japanese customers will pay a premium for quality. Being cheaper doesn't necessarily entice them.

Just so that you know, the Camera guys always done SONY mobiles cameras, but they have such bad competative culture within SONY corp that makes one division sabotage another devision. The camera division was scared, if they did to good cameras on SONY mobile phones, they wont sell their own cameras. SO when SONY corp desided to merge 3 divisions to 1, it was to stop this competivness between this 3 divisions, so force them to work together. SO if Camera division go on sabotaging for Sony mobile, it will be bad for them as a camera division as well. Sony has always done great phones, and the cameras has never been bad, but they just lost "that" that people want.

Battery life isn't up for the price and device category for sure. Photos quality - just decent, certainly not the best compared to other phones in this review. So I'd say the only good thing about this phone is attractive design. I wish Google copied Xperia 5 design and took battery from the last year Huawei Mate 20 Pro. It would be a truly great phone even with heaps missing features of Galaxy S10 phones.

These days every phone has 18:9, 18,5:9, 19:9 and also 20:9 aspect ratio. I guess 21:9 will be the future, cause it's so much better to hold it this way. I own the Xperia 1 and although it has such a big screen, one handed use is doable without any problems. The side sense feature comes in handy here, as I don't have to stretch my hand to get most of the work done I want to do.
