Excellence and enlightening video. Superior Sony quality. Can't understand why all these people go for Chinese products. The true king is here. The Sony cameras are worth the competition. Sony smartphones are the best for the overall pack they offer. Chinese may have excessive cameras but aren't excessive in other fields (quality, reliability, time endurance)

@@michaelidowu1930 well the problem is xz2 premium is one of the least favorite sony's flagship. By the time it was released, you can count how many youtubers were reviewing it. Plus if they review the least favorite xz2p, I think there won't be much people who are going to watch it

Very useful sbs comparison! Thx!!! What i found out: The xz2 19 MP camera sensor gathers tons of information, even in the washed out white sky. Therefore, I use snapseed to do what the other manufactures do by camera software. With the "details" tool you can bring all the blue sky and clouds back gradually into the picture background. Its all there, just hidden by (not so good) camera software.

@WhatGear that picture of the dog at 1:05, did you use the hdr in the manual mode, or auto mode? There still more detail on the dog's hair on the xz2, but huge improvement in the highlight clipping, glad to see that! 😁 P. S. There still no Auto-HDR on Xperia phones, is there?

2 years with an XZ2 now. I was thinking of waiting for the Xperia 1 mark 2, but I think it might be a bit too tall for me so the 5 might be the one for me. It's mad to think that the XZ2 was Sony's big main flagship phone 2 years ago and now it's basically a compact.

Improved but not by much really. The XZ2 is still quite good. But the X5 is definitely the one I'd choose simply because of Camera2 API. Full manual controls, shutter speed of up to 30s, ability to set everything to your liking plus ultra wide. It is a no brainer. I was a fan of Sony in the early days of Android. Then I started hating them for their shitty camera app that never impoves, with very very llimited functionality. Now the camera is totally free for you to do whatever you like. I'm a fan again

Soo I was saving for the Xperia 5 for almost a year now, the price dropped to 520euros on one site. I finally thought of actually giving it a go before my uni starts again and would you know....it's gone. There's an Xperia 1 for 520 now but it looks fishy. Since I have a slightly damaged Z5 from a fall/virus, the only cost/quality phone as an upgrade I found was a XZ2 for 240euros. Honestly not a good upgrade after my Z5 boy. He was pricey the quality was top notch, after a hard reset he worked like new phone which gives me hope if I see a used Xperia 5.

So im actually watching this video on my xz2 and my note 10+ doing my own thing. Depending on what device you are watching from makes the difference! The pictures look better on my xz2. At 1080 vs the 1440 on my note 10+. The galaxy tends to over soften the images. The shap object was really blurry on my note 10+ where my xz2 it was shaper with just a tad bit of blur. I still like my xz2 better than my note 10+.

I went from XZ Premium to Xperia 1 and there was a huge difference in low light photos, but not much difference in good light. Macro shots are way better on the Xperia 1, and the wide-angle lens comes in handy.

@@djfapples it's minimal. I can't really tell a difference in speed. When I came from the XA Ultra to the XZ Premium I noticed a huge difference in speed, but with the XZ premium to Xperia 1 I haven't.

I'm xperia 1 user and after the last update, the camera has been improved (but not the video unfortunately). But the front camera is still suffering from warmer tone, but probably because of samsung's sensor. If you own the xz3 and you don't really need the tele and ultra wide camera, you aren't missing a lot of stuff.
