Big Gerald, did I miss the section on stabilisation? The lack of IBIS and only cropped digital stabilisation are big negatives, surely? Also, a better comparison when talking about price is the A6700, which is much cheaper than the FX30 but has 4K 120p, an EVF and IBIS. I think that it's $400 more than this camera but what you get for it seem worth it.

Realistically, the mark 1 is still great, warts and all. Glad I switched my main cam to the A6700 back in December. It’s worth the extra $400, and at the same time you get a better hybrid camera with the A6700. And as much as I’ve seen things about that camera overheating, I’ve never actually been able to get it to overheat. The A6700 is a better buy.

I own the original ZV-E10, and it's still a solid camera that I have used to film hours upon hours of A roll, B roll, and behind the scenes content for my college course (film student). I also have it plugged into a camlink and mounted on my desk when I'm on discord calls, outputting 4K25 S-Log2 for hours on end, in a room that depending on the time of year and how long my PC's been running can vary from 17C to 27C. Not once has this thing ever overheated in its almost 2 years of continuous use. I've also got an FX30, not used as much cause I got it later on, but when I have used it, admittedly not in massively taxing conditions yet, the cooling system worked, and that camera has not overheated for me either. I guess what I'm trying to say is that the ZV-E10 II is a disappointment.

I REALLY appreciate the overheating tests. Example: we are currently looking for a camera for our youth group and we are in Texas shooting summer camp. Our direct sunlight is going to be 100F and above in very normal circumstances. Seeing an 11 minute time frame between 70-80F just tells me this thing will cook like an egg in our world 😂 I often see people state “but you won’t see that in normal temperatures” but if you live basically anywhere in the south or along the equator normal temperatures are like an oven. So docs, outdoor weddings, camps, you name it, it’s a daily occurrence to film outside in the summer for some of us. Thanks for including overheating info because for us it’s one of the most critical parts of the camera. Fans create issues as well because of dust and rain, here in TX weather can go from flood to hot summer day in the same day. Literally just had it happen with the hurricane

@@HagaishiSama No one is buying ZV series camera for photos, this is not a hybrid camera, it's for video... And bright external monitor is better than evf for video, so might as well not carry the additional weight of the evf. Also if you're a heavy gimbal user, IBIS is useless when flying, so there is a market niche that is ok with saving 400$ for essentially the same image quality. Or even saving 800$ if we're talking FX30.

Dear Gerald Undone, I appreciate your insightful reviews and deep understanding of camera technology. As a passionate videographer, I’m hoping you could advocate for a push from camera manufacturers to advance their stabilization technology beyond the benchmarks set in 2017. For instance, while the Sony ZV-E10 Mark II offers improved electronic stabilization, it still falls short compared to the in-body image stabilization (IBIS) found in models like the Panasonic GH5 from that era. The current electronic stabilization can be roughly 60-70% less effective than IBIS, which is noticeable in dynamic shooting conditions. As an influential figure in the camera community, you have the ability to persuade not only consumers but also the camera companies to push their hardware and technology further. It would be fantastic to see future cameras integrate more advanced stabilization technologies that significantly surpass the capabilities of those from 2017. Thank you for considering this request and for your continued contributions to the field. Best regards, Pup

I just don't think I can adjust to the ergonomics of such a small camera....

Its crazy how the a6400 and a6600 can do 4k 30fps and not overheat or last way longer than the new cameras. But the new cameras has better NR, DR and more bells and whistles

I really wish they set the HDMI output at 10-bit, that would make it a no-brainer for studio stuff. What a strange but functional lil’ guy. 😂 Great review - thanks!

Can anyone confirm it has dual base ISO as FX30? Internet has mixed info about that :D

Awesome video and charts. You put so much work into this. I'm just surprised at how extremely bad the picture quality looked in the short test. I know it's shut on a mediocre kit lens - but still... looks way worse than a modern smartphone.

I am considering this as an upgrade on my 12y/o Canon SL1 for street photography and sort videos.I was hoping canon would rev the R10 but that doesn't look to be on the menu for this year. My primary camera is now my phone (I expect this to continue with the iPhone 16) since an iPhone is somewhat more stealthy in crowd environments. Having this as a secondary when I need some flexibility in lens choice or need to use an ND filter this is a goto choice.
